After reading some messages last night, it seems a couple of people think Bavs should be the number one. I don't, but would be very interested to see the opinions of others.

No the only person who would take this seriously would be ...... Joe Hart - who never even gets a mention

it's got to be Howie. We look far more settled with him in the side, and if Dunbavin was that good there would have been a lot more interest in him than there as been and a lot less unsuccessful "trials " at other clubs

I'm surprised we have had 5 who would rather have Bavo to be honest. Howie is a lot lot better IMO.

Howie is marginally better than Bavo, no more than that, i'm hoping Joe Hart makes the breakthrough into the first XI come August as Quinn says he hopes he will

Just prefer Bavo to Howie...can't say it bothers me that people don't agree really.

For me its not even a contest Howie is a good keeper with a decent record of not conceading goals .Dunbavin stuggles to make the grade and is prone to errors.Surley yesterdays man, he would not be on my bench.

No contest for me, it has to be Howie. I am assuming that Peter did not have the dubious pleasure of standing behind the goal at Rushden or Cambridge, last season, or witnessing Bavo's rush of blood at Bournemouth.

Absolutely no contest in my mind: Howie every single time. Keepers will always make mistakes (look at arguably the best keeper of the last 5 years, Oli Kahn, the other night against Madrid), but Howie has authority and the confidence of his defenders. Bavo might be able to make a good save on occasion, but he doesn't appear to inspire confidence and is simply too erratic - except for his kicking, which was permanently rubbish.

I'll have to forego the cookie, thanks for the offer though, I'm putting on the pounds enough as it is. Apparently - so I gather from post on this board at least - PILCH might be interested in taking it off your hands though ... !

but Howie has authority and the confidence of his defenders. Can't agree with that statement at all Good shot stopper yes, better on crosses than Bavo, yes, kicking, nowt in it But he completely lacks authority in my opinion, fails to control the 18 yard box, is very hesistant coming off his line which directly leads to situations like those in the last two games and I suspect Tinson doesn't have a great deal of confidence in him just now.

PPP, have to put my hand up here as I wasn't there on Saturday or yesterday evening, so can't comment. I think that the fact that we've only conceded 7 goals at home must indicate he's doing something right though ...

We have a solid back four and the opposition forwards are generally weaker this season, but I take your point
Howie is doing okay, but hasn't convinced me entirely just yet
I feel his lack of command of his area will cost us somewhere down the line, but hopefully not when it matters most, like in a play-off game!

Can't argue with a keeper who has previously been called up the the FULL scotland squad - and they are normally so overun with quality keepers..

I would vote but it won't let me! Occurrence Stats Occ W D L F:A Rank Score First 11 6 4 1 19:7 19 Opp Scores First 13 0 2 11 8:28 24 Clean Sheet 7 6 1 0 13:0 5 Fail To Score 8 0 1 7 0:12 21
Given the team rank 5th in the league for clean sheets - and my experience of watching them both there is not question.
And yes...I do realise that the defence have a contribution to that.
