Big Nigel Martyn has got to be the best man for the job, brilliant form this season, which shows he is not past his best like Seaman. Fantastic service for England when called upon in the past. He certainly should be in the squad ahead of Ian Walker

give it a year and James will be forgott3n and the 3 keepers for portugal will be Kirkland (first choice a liverpool now), Robinson (will move on to a club like spurs - and therefore i garunteed a place!) and Martyn.
Walker and james are a joke - its just a matter of time till they mess up on previous form

Paul Robinson or Chris Kirkland for me - Martyn's over the hill in terms of age - if you're considering picking him for EURO 2004 you may as well pick Cudicini from Chelsea for the tourny.

I know Cudicini may be eligible for the tournament but I would much rather see 11 players who want to play for England above any other nation in the world, rather than an Italy reject.
Seeing Martyn's form this season he is no way over the hill, Kirkland is not playing first team football, and when I'm working at Elland Road I get to see Robinson pick the ball out of the net far too often to want to see him in nets at a major tournament!!!

"I know Cudicini may be eligible for the tournament but I would much rather see 11 players who want to play for England above any other nation in the world, rather than an Italy reject." I can see what you mean Leedshrew but to have Cudicini part of the squad would be excellent. At the moment for me both Kirkland and Robinson are not consistant enough to be relied upon to be Englands number 1, Cudicini on the other hand is pretty much the complete keeper. Don't worry about the nationality thing though, Martin JOhnson was an All Black, An England cricketer (?) is from South Africa and Micheal Owen is Welsh

When does Cuddicini qualify ? I thought it was 2006
Still not sure about Robinson, he certainly needs to move, and to be fair James has not cocked up for England.

Have to say against Denmark, altho' he made one mistake which resulted in a goal Robinson did make a number of outstanding saves.
James has been given a chance and is doing well. Walker is crap, Kirkland is going to get plenty of first team football this season, Stuart Taylor is another one who is going to be in contention for 2006.

He played for the under twelves or something.
I think Kirkland should be playing in all the friendlys we have and therfore will be up to international football in time for Portugal. James has had it, Martyn is OK but going downwards. Robinson is another good possibility.

Never been much of an Ian Walker fan in the past but he's starting to look the part these days, they say goalkeepers get better as they get older
Don't rate Calamity James at all, Kirkland or Robinson are better bets in my opinion
It's sad to think that there are only three English goalkeepers to choose from in the Premiership (four if you include Seaman who i'm sure won't get picked again), in seasons gone by the England Manager would have been spolit for choice

Why is everyone so high on Kirkland? ow many games has he played for Liverpool? 15? Max yet according to so many of you he deserves to be in the England team ahead of Paul Robinson who has been the first choice keeper at Leeds for 3 seasons. Kirkland may have undoubted potential but he's not even Liverpool's number one!
And why is everyone so down on Ian Walker? He's been playing well for several seasons, its just he is at a small premiership club that's going to struggle to stay up
I have never rated James, ok he might have made some good saves but he's also been quite lucky in that his mistakes for England haven't resulted in goals
