Yep certainly did. We even had a league, a very seriously run league, with the lads in the neighbourhood.
That retro shop is quality because it reminds me of the old strips the teams used to have.
Just about grasped it, always seemed to win the cup occassionally, but never the league. Houllier springs to mind. Didn't they have a table at the football exhibition?
A great game Ant yep a great game.

I used to love Subbeteo Infact I saw an advert in the Shrewsbury Admag last Thursday offering a stack of it for £15 and I so nearly got it, but was stopped.

Only started to play Subbuteo when I started at Uni as one of the lads had brought it with him...had some top times playing for the Fosters Shield (well, ashtray) but it always ended up with Brighton & Hove Albion winning as he were the only lad who had a clue how to play it. I mean, he used to be able to hit a moving ball!!! Each of us went out and bought our teams, mind...great game, great fun...
Haven't they stopped making it now? Don't suppose it stood a chance with the PS2 etc. and the electronic football games out there now...schade schade...give a kid Subbuteo now and he'd ask where you plug it in...

I used to be a Subbeteo fanatic when I was growing up. I even had an astroturf pitch (no creases) and battery powered floodlights ;D Used to have various STFC teams looking resplendant in their blue and amber and if ever Man Ure had the cheek to score against us I used to squash half of their line up, bad loser me nooo

I used to have loads of subbuteo stuff, including the plastic green fence that went all the way around the pitch. only any good if you had the spring loaded throw in takers and the corner kickers.
I used to buy teams from Sports and Games, always second hand, and always vintage, remember most teams came with stupid number stickers for their backs? Well, most of these came with hand painted numbers. My favourites were Brazil (always looked good) and Ajax.
I had all my stuff stoled when I took it to school..... probably worth a fortune now.

Yes, i was well into subbuteo as well, collected upto around 25-30 teams, had the floodlights, big scoreboard, European Cup, continental nets and so on. We had a league as well, 6 of us with 4 teams each plus the FA Cup competition( used the Euro Cup). This was in the early 70's. All my stuff was bought from new a lot where i saved up money from paper rounds and stuff, I went absolutely mad when I found my mum had given it away just after i had joined the RAF ( i was 18 at the time). It would have been worth a bit today with all the original boxes etc, but it would'nt be for sale if i still had it.

I had around 20 teams, the posh astroturf pitch, a load of stands + supporters, the floodlights, posh goal netting...pretty much everything going. Unfortunately I used to be quite clumsy so most of the players ended up getting stood on!

I was a fan
I've still got loads of stuff!
Astroturf, 2 stands, 2 terraces, fencing, floodlights, loads of teams, loads of goals, a tv crew jesus.
I remember back in early 90s, being a big Spurs fan too, we lost to Forest in the league cup semi finals i think, and afterwards I was so upset I squashed various members of the forest subbuteo team! Woan & Jemson the buggers!
