I would love to see all these slaggers off of Duane Darby call him a donkey to his face...now that would be funny.
For god's sake give the bloke a chance.

Don't be so ridiculous.
He hasn't become a bad player overnight.
Watch him score on Saturday and prove all the doubters wrong.

hahah this board in the space of a week has gone from monday where pretty much every one was slagging Darby off (not me) to Today where people are getting a dressing down for slagging the man off
I hope like ant said he proves you all wrong - but im sure if he does not the majority will be back to taking potshots at Darby on Monday

Agreed JP
As everyone knows Im in favour of dropping him for Cramb but he doesn't deserve the harsh treatment he's been getting.
I have no doubt that he can score goals at this level, but at the moment he isn't and Cramb is.
At this stage of the season and for whats at stake at the end of it we can't simply put our faith in a misfiring striker hoping that he will come good when we have an in form striker on the bench.
Darby will come good, he is better than John Gayle by far, but needs a stint out of the team for promotions sake.
That being said, give him a run in the reserves, get him scoring, and then bring him into the 1st team. But for gods sake lets just drop this pathetic witch hunt or he will never perform for us.

And what about Cramb's attitude? This is one thing that hasn't been covered at all this week.
Has his response to being dropped been any good?

If Darby goes another 9 without scoring, he'll actually have a worse scoring record than Gayle, playing at a lower standard of football.
" Selections Repeat Single Stake Clear All Event Date Event Selections Odds E/W Terms 1 21/02/2004 Shrewsbury v Scarborough (Last Goalscorer) Duane Darby 5/1 None Remove Bet Max Total Stake: £1"
I've put my money where Pricey's mouth is......

He's nowhere near as bad as Gayle, his workrate, holding the ball up and link up play are excellent (Could you say that about Gayle?) but he's sadly not having luck in front of goal.
Personally I think it was a disgrace the Star printing the report where town fans call him "Donkey Darby". How the hell is that going to improve his confidence? Not only that but I can guarantee that anytime he gives the ball away or misses a chance he will get a lot more stick because the Star has highlighted his lack of goals, its human nature.
As for Cramb, although there are question marks over him the facts are he's our leading scorer...........however I wouldn't start him tomorrow. Quinn can't let players publicly throw their toys out of pram and then put them straight back into the side.

Gayle was dreadful when here.so far Darby has been poor but at least we know he is better than what he has shown so far.It may not be this season that he is at his best so why not leave him out till he is firing in training again.

Darby has been dreadful all season and should be dropped for Cramb asap! there is no debate. He did absolutely nothing at Altrincham, apart from give the ball away and show himself up to be at least a yard off the pace.
Well thats my opinion anyway (But remember I never liked Jemmo much either!)

John Gayle was absolute rubbish when he played for us, but what was his record as a pro like. He can't have been crap all of his career.
Darby will come good, as will Banim. Remember that some players take their time. We've just been lucky with Luke. The last great goalscorer we had, Carl Griffiths, wasn't an overnight sensation. him a couple of years to really get into the groove.

Was all in favour of bringing Cramb back in on Sat but to be honest he's shot himself in the foot by speaking out in the Star. Darby is quality. No doubt about it. An early goal against Boro's dodgy defence on Sat should set him up for the run in. Hate to say it but it looks like Scarboro have missed the "devourer of all pies" at the back.

he scored something like 34 league goals. His best season was i think for Coventry when he scored 10 goals in 38 games, then his second best was when he scored 8 goals for Northapton I believe..... you catch my drift?

My congratulations go to Duane Darby today for two superbly taken goals and showing us what he is truely capable of producing in front of goal. This will surely bring his confidence flooding back after this quality display today. I hope this will quieten some of those doubters who have been writing him off. Certainly my man of the match.
