Just seen the footage on the news, wasn't very nice really and a little scary.
Why do clubs have stupid things like this though? Keep it nice and simple I say

The display was hardly going to attract people to the ground was it? The place is a sell out every week. A waste of money, and unfortunately someone gets injured for no good reason.

The woman hit is from Madeley in Telford.
I think Bolton also put on a fancy firework display before every home game but I dont know if they did today, have to say it must have been a incredibly frightening experience for anyone who was nearby, I remember a firework being thrown over the away terrace at Torquay and that shocked me enough! Hope the woman recovers fully and sues Wolves for quite a hefty sum.

I blame SKY television for all this firework s**te. They even do it at bloody darts now. They have to glorify everything they put on the f**king box and now football clubs seem to follow suit. You never had bloody fireworks at the FA cup presentation or any other sodding major sporting event, until SKY got their grubby little hands on it. Rant Over

Luke's wasnt a deliberate act yes he was stupid but he didnt purposely aim the firework at the girl If anything I think that the Wolves situation is worse as it would supposedly by organised by professionals and is in close proximity to people, and ok the woman was injured but i believe not seriously, still it was dangerously close to hitting one of the players soon after being set off which could have had very serious concequences
oh and the Torquay firework hit the advertising board directly in front of where I was standing very scary watching it head directly for you

mmmm, we always seem to get the Telford / Shrewsbury angle into every story don't we guys and girls??.
Madeley has indeed been swallowed up by the Telford new town conurbation and is officially part of Telford according to the Post Office. As are Oakengates, Wellington etc.
However, I was born and bred in Madeley, as were several generations of my family before me. To people like us it is always Madeley, Shropshire. Now I am proud to be a supporter of Telford Utd (they are my local club), I have followed them for 20 years. I am also proud to have represented Shropshire in sport many times too.
I went to college in Shrewsbury and enjoy shopping in Shrewsbury far more than in Telford. I have never seen any trouble at either ground when I have been there.
However, I do see just as many groups of youngsters acting menacingly in Telford as I do in Shrewsbury and there appears to be plenty of "under-resourced" areas in both towns.
Whilst Shrewsbury has a lot of culture and history as part of its history, small towns that are now part of Telford by design have too (Ironbridge, Coalport etc..). The dermographics and culture of both towns are poles apart.
Why we all can't accept both towns for what they are and not try to stereotype everyone is beyond me. At saturday's game I sat next to a guy I have known for years who works in a factory on Halesfield, whilst I own my own management consultancy business, it doesn't make either of us better than the other, or less of a fan.
For the record, I was a strong advocate of us building a new ground to share halfway down the A5!! Great road and rail links, retail park in the offing, both clubs benefit from reduced running costs. Sometimes you have to swallow a bitter pill to see the benefits for the club you love.
Sorry this is so long, but I think we should perhaps have a more mature attitude to each other, the two sets of fans will never like each other, but we have more in common than we realise and we should perhaps stick to footbaling arguements.
PS the three moderators of this board always put well-reasoned arguements forward on the TUFC board!

I was under the impression that he appeared in court over the incident ,was found guilty and was punished (not nearly harsly enough in my view).Iadmire him greatly as a player ,when on form, and when selected, but as a person who would do what he did ,to say the least he needs to grow up ,if i were to say what i really thought of him i would be liable to be prosecuted myself.

Bonzo, it appears you are mis-informed regarding Luke's trial.
He set a firework off outside a pub - a stupid thing to do yes - however he did not intentionally hurt anyone. Luke changed his plea from not-guilty to guilty when the charge was lessened.

Back to the original point of the fireworks at Wolves....wasn't it beyond belief that the company doing the display tried to suggest that it wasn't their fault but a freak gust of wind! As if a firework shouldn't be safe enough to deal with that!
