Starting to realise now that at 26, I was part of the 'britpop' generation- a time when british music ruled Brittania, Lumberjack shirts were kind of fashionably (and not just worn by people in North Shropshire ) and floppy haircuts were donned by all and sundry. As we have a broad range of ages on here, do any of you attain yourself to any particular generation or movement?, and if so, what sticks in your mind from the time?

I was more of a STFC fan than a music genre fan - though always remember Love and Pride was number one when Everton 3-0 Telford
I like Curve, Faith No More, Simple Minds, Throwing Muses, any Motown, Faithess, Transglobal Underground, The Who, any goth band, early William Orbit, but not like Oasis or the Blur thing.
I remember being into Motorhead when New Romantics we 'in' and after one Christmas when one grandmother got me an Abba album, the other got me a Madness one !
Im not Chinese, Im not Japanese, Im just a mixed up kid

Britpop takes an incredible amount of flak, and nearly every band who were around then try and remove themselves from it.
But I loved it – there were some fantastic singles from that time, even by bands who eventually turned out to be crap (Daydreamer – Menswearm From a Window – Northern Uproar, Great Things – Echobelly, Waking Up – Elastica, No One Speaks – Geneva, Love is the Law - Seahorses), and a lot of good bands still about such as the Furries, Divine Comedy etc. who were given loads more exposure because of the better light guitar bands were portrayed in at that time.
Then there were the main players such as Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Suede, Blur, Radiohead and the Manics, all of whom benefited from the Britpop scene, however much they’d love to deny it.
Britpop ruled

I'm part of the generation who have had their academic results rubbished, because any tom, dick or harry can come in off the streets and get an A or B at A-level reguadless of whether they are literate or not I too remeber the britpop era, loved it, my first album was an Oasis one, can still remeber watching Levellers on top of the pops (just the one), jumping around my room to disco 2000, common people, day we caught the train Also part of the generation of STFC fans whom suffered the humiliation of being taunted at school for supporting a rubbish team that was on a "par" with Telford United And I guess I'm part of the pile 'em down, stumble out the pub and have a scr@p inbetween throwing up (if you read the mail)

It's not about music it's about hair. When i was a punk it was erect and colourful.. When i was a skinhead my head was always cold.. When i was a new romnatic i had a carefree and foppish fringe.. Now it's just grey and unkempt, bit like my live really

I started college in 88...so was mad on the Stone Roses, The Smiths, Happy Mondays, The Charlatans, Throwing Muses, Pixies, Inspiral Carpets and NFAD at the time. Then as I went to Uni we had St Etienne, Pulp, Blur, Supergrass, Oasis and the like...well into me indie...

I was just a bit too young to be a punk, so the Specials and the Two Tone bands did it for me, politically as well as musically.
Always loved indie music ever since, although now I'm an old timer I find that my tastes are getting broader.

School first concert - Status Quo, with Hawkwind and Curved Air on the same bill. Genesis at Knebworth late 70's Pink Floyd at Stafford Bingley Hall - Animals tour Various Wolvo Civic Hall - Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher (best concert EVER ), Wishbone Ash College - Squeeze, Communards, Tangerine Dream and anything interesting at Birmingham Odeon. States - U2, Elvis Costello, Rolling Stones. plus Linton Kwesi Johnson, Buckwheat Zydeco, UB40, Bob Marley and The Cleveland Opera. I don't think I fit into an "it" really. and yep - taste's getting broader with age
