As promised, here are the full details. It'd be great if we could take a team of STFC supporters along to compete in this...
III EUROPEAN SUPPORTERS CUP – BARCELONA 2005
After two successful tournaments, the city of Barcelona will be hosting the 3rd European Supporters Cup in May 2005, involving a mix of supporters teams from all over Europe in a friendly, but competitive atmosphere.
Once again, we shall be using Spanish first division club RCD Espanyol’s excellent training facilities, with high quality artificial pitches within easy reach of central Barcelona.
All the tournament matches are played on Saturday, 28th May leaving plenty of time for other activities.
Tournament regulations do insist that, as well as playing in the spirit that the occasion demands, all teams play in their respective colours of the club or national team you are representing.
After the tournament, we will be repeating the popular slap-up Spanish meal and trophy presentation at the hospitable Pasa Tapas restaurant.
Either on Saturday or Sunday, RCD Espanyol will be playing their last game of the season, at home to Athletic Club Bilbao at the Olympic Stadium. European qualification is a very real possibility this season for Barcelona’s ‘other’ club. We will ensure that the tournament does not overlap with the match, and can also supply (price not included) how ever many tickets you may need. FC Barcelona is playing away that weekend, but you can always enjoy a guided tour of their incredible Camp Nou stadium.
If any of you are music fans, you may also be interested in the Primavera Sound festival which will be happening at the same time (click here).
Another popular option is to join our traditional Sunday-after-the-match pitch and putt (golf) tournament. The costs will be added onto the overall fee, if you are interested, please let us know in advance so we can arrange tee times.
The European Supporters Cup, at 300 euros for players and 250 euros for non-playing guests is all-inclusive offering:
Transfers from airport to hotel.
Three nights B&B hotel accommodation (Friday to Sunday inclusive).
Tournament entry.
One friendly on Sunday (optional) and coach transfer.
Transfers to the tournament venue.
Referees.
Trophies.
Evening presentation meal on Saturday (food & drinks included).
All you have to do is get here.
This is a tournament to be played as amateur football should be – playing to win, but also playing to have a good time!
All the teams that took part in 2004 are already making plans to come back this year. Here’s what some of them had to say…
“We had a very enjoyable and memorable weekend with a great group of lads .Maybe we should have stayed in on the Friday, the golf on the Sunday was an excellent call once we had got up.” – Middlesborough Supporters South
“A great weekend. We will be back next year to defend our title!! ” – Jorge, Spain UK.
“Que bien lo hemos pasado con los ingleses.” Juanjo, Celtic Barcelona.
