I thought he looked better when going forward in a midfield roll did no worse than Sam, i would like to see a bit more of Ciaran Lyng though.

I can see where you are coming from, but i would say so far he has been brilliant! I know hes given a few easy balls away but then again doesn't everyone?

I thought he had a really good game yesterday and was my MOM, made some good runs foward especially in the first half and defended very well.
Miles better than what Challis has been recently.

Very solid.
GP's next dilemna will be when Walton gets fit.
Moss was steady second half but the options that we now have around the pitch helps no end. i.e. a poor run for Moss and Whitehead comes to right back, enabling Tinson/Walton to go in at centre back. Rids has also given him something to think about.

I think Ashton's been a very definite plus. He gives us a decent shape and rarely do we see him making defensive clangers. His positional sense struck me as excellent.
I pity any left back playing behind Sam Aiston. Aiston will either be passing the ball 5 yards to you (no inherent offence in that, but it means you'll have no time at all to weigh up your own options) or he'll be racing ahead of you from inside his own half. Where does that leave the full back? Nowhere, really, just watching.
That having been said, I thought there were signs that Aiston was learning how to play with Ashton yesterday. He allowed Ashton to go past him on occasions and I thought the two looked much happier playing alongside each other. I think there's potential there - my problem would be more the aimlessness of Aiston's (albeit passionate and committed) enthusiasm and not any particular weaknesses on Ashton's part ...

Ashton looks to be a good signing, and a definite improvement on Challis.
