Difficult weather conditions , wind was swirling all around the ground , first half was blinding as the sun was setting just over the home terracing roof, it was extremely difficult for Howie. R&D Had the best chance of the first half when there forward latched onto a through ball with only SH to beat , the ball was bouncing and he headed it into SH hands. Town pushed on well and were dangerous with there crossing. Second half saw Ryan replace Grant up front and Ryan caused problems sammy wasn't so super but put in some good deliveries overall draw was a fair result. Cracking ground & facilities take note STFC including the supporters bar.
Supporters team won 14 - 2 BTW.

What took you so long ,been back ages... Not the greatest game but wind was a factor. Tolley plus Aiston best for me............Mossy not with it first half but improved. Draw fair result I reckon, but they had the best chances I felt though if Edwards had of put his early glorious chance away who knows. Played some nice stuff at times but felt our final ball was poor all day, lacked a bit of quality to use an old footballing phrase.

A draw was probably fair but i still left the ground feeling as if it was two point's dropped.
Great little set up with excellent facilites for supporters.I hope the new Meadow can provide something similar.
Funniest part of the day...slightly over weight fanzine editor waiting outside an empty cublice at half time with other's forming que behind him, he hadn't thought to try the door. DOH !!

I'm surprised you rated Tolley today Ed, I thought him and Sedgemore were both pretty anonymous in midfield for large parts of the game, and I was dissapointed O'Connor didn't come on. For me, Tinno was man of the match after a fine display.

I thought Ashton looked pretty solid but Aiston was the top man. Moss was dreadful in the first half. Let's just hope it was because he was short of match practice. We were also very slow to fight for second balls and I thought they had the chances to win it. But one of their fans outside was raging about how crap their manager was and the fact he made a double substitution at the end to use up time when they were the home side and drawing.

I was surprised as well O'Connor didnt figure,I'd have swaped him for Sedge.
Stick with my opinion of Tolley, thought he closed down very well and won numerous tackles, which is a word I had started to believe he wasnt familiar with. His distribution could have been better, but I thought he had a very good game.
His judgement of when to run towards a bouncing 50,50 ball though is about as good as Howie's in coming of his line.Less said the better.
Champagne moment Lowey nearly drilling himself into the ground with his "shot on the turn".......priceless.

Didn't see you checking the cubicle Jamo, although you did barge in front of me........ 2 points dropped is what I'd say if we'd be at home, but it was a decent solid performance, and we are looking ever more comfortable at the back. Its been a real turnaround in form. Thought Sedge and Tolley did just fine.

My thoughts DId ok probabley did not deserve to win and it was a pretty boaring game but Grant and Lowe both showed why - people wrighting off Luke are wrong - its going to be Langers and Luke when there both fit I though first half we were poor but i think that Peters had told em to sit for 0-0 in the first half with wind againt and then go at it second which to be fair we did Mildfield was the problem today - sedge and Tolley returned slighty to the bottling tackle, wrong last pass ways - although credit to JT hes got some legs on him, hes got to be the fittest in the team now - still hareing forward at 89 mins!!! Also Astion and Dave E were just not accurate enough with the crosses but again credit as the bot got to the by line a lot. Back line won us the point today - very solid - mossy started shakey but settled, Ahston looks really confortable at left back (shame hes not taller!!) and Tinno was ace though he was marking Littlejohn whos pace is all but gone!!! Good save from Scott from free kick as well Langers ran him self out again and needs luke - im sorry he does!!!! A good point in the conditions and with only kiddy winning not to much lost today in a week where we were away Rushden will be battleing all season to get out of trouble and if radio northampton was to be belived might be looking for a new manager soon!!! Good day out - thank dod for macky d's buy one get one free deal

Happy with a point. Neitehr team looked like scoring and themost important thing about today was stopping Rushden from picking up points on us.

....via Sixfields and the TGI Fridays with the Southampton fans.
Horrid sun, cold, and it looked like the aim was exactly not to lose.
First half very dull - even Mitchell decided to watch Spiderman on the DVD instead!
Langmead busy but jumped too early for the headers all game.
Aiston busy in the second half without delivering the killer ball.
Mossy miles off the pace and the break showed.
Thought Sedge did well in the first half - he was the only one who seemed to chase everywhere - and was OK second half.
Lowey did make two cracking goofs, BUT, did chase the ball down and won it back straight away.
Scotty did all asked of him - must have been very hard to see anything in the first half.
Tolley better in the last third of the game.
Tinson still not talking to others which created some problems, but also put in some good tackles.
Whitehead - OK.
Ashton not as good passing today.
Edwards much more quiet.
Grant didn't see any of the ball to do anything in the first half.
Too many loose passes and panic "kick the ball in the air" for my liking. Also too many players not going to the ball and waiting for it to come to them, allowing the opposition to sneak in front of them before it reached them.
Two not particularly good teams with a draw the right result really.

I think we missed rodgers today - with the long balls from SH (wind assisted) he would have picked them up and caused mayhem for their back 4!
How many do you reckon was there from the shrews 500?

no real spark in the performance today, just needed someone to take it too them in the later stages of the 2nd half, thought ryan was trying to take part in the boot wanging contest with that air shot

The game was there for the taking today, both sides had chances to win what was a very poor game, for me the: Positives 1) we kept a clean sheet. 2) A point at Rushden is good considering our past record there. Negatives 1) We need to close them down quicker to prevent shooting opportunities. 2) The midfield lacked quality and direction. 3) If Duane Darby is behind KL, JG, and RL on todays performances then the pope's not a catholic....!!!!!

The Rushden programme seller outside Strikers Bar seemed genuinely surprised when we told him DD wouldnt even be in the squad for todays game. Its amazing how one set of supporters can love a player so much, and the other 'seem' to hate him Although I dont hate DD, Britannia Stadium, sunshine, May and promotion comes to mind for me.......

I think RUFC supporters gave him a fair chance which this season we hav'nt, ok I accept he's on good money (allegedly) but you don't become a bad player overnight and to me his failing has been trying to play through injury to prove his worth, which has effected his form.
Duane Darby Goals, Goals and more Goals...!!!

to me his failing has been trying to play through injury to prove his worth, which has effected his form So explain to me how he never shined last season when he wasn't injured and playing regulary against lesser opposition.
