nice one...
all the pundits are saying that it should be used for the Premiership because of the money involved in Champions League places and Tottenham may need 2 more points to get 4th spot next year - thus losing out on the UCL goldmine...
say Rushden play Cambridge, last game of the season... surely a team getting relegated out of the league has far more severe financial consequenses to a club if they dont get back into the league at the first time of asking... look at York !

How many times does this actually happen a season? It's a minor problem compared to offside etc surely?

as daft as it seems it could make or break a side imagine if it had happened to us in the play off final and as previously mentioned it has cost 1 or 2 teams their league status and robbed a div 3 side an appearance in the cup final and a bucket full of money (a big bucket) www.sigames.com/the_bootroom.php?type=view&article_id=878

I can see it happening really soon due to this incident. To be honest I think it should have come in years ago. The refs and linesmen should all be wired up with ear-piece transmitters liek they do in American Football. Then they'd know what was going on and wouldn't have to stop the game to check whether everything is legit.

It will probably have come in sooner had it been Utd, rather than Spurs, who were on the receiving end of the incident (or am I just being cynical?!). The difference between this and many of the other suggestions for camera/ technology use e.g. to determine fouls or other incidents is that 1) it is a 'yes or no' decision - no debating involved in whether a ball has crossed the line and 2) it happens rarely and therefore wouldn't require the game to broken up. This is the one piece of technology I wouldn't mind seeing introduced to the game, but I'd hope if it is that it wouldn't be followed by the introduction of more technology to 'aid' the referee etc.

The solution might be to limit each team to 3 video ref appeals a game. They're unlikely to need more. Remember the brouhaha a couple of years ago when a Wimbledon player got sent off and the ref awarded a penalty - the ball hit the player on the chest outside the box. I think the ref got demoted because of that one.
If Wimbledon had been able to appeal to a video ref, then the referee's blushes from a HUUUGE mistake would have been spared too.
Give the clubs bonuses based on the number of unused appeals they have left over at the end of the year. That way people won't use a video appeal to time waste.
