It amazes me how many so called "fans" are so keen to jump on bandwagons and stuff the boot in on our players. Take Granty - gets heaps of abuse and sh!te from all parts of the ground till he scores and - hey presto, he's wonderful, same with Tolley. Then, today, Luke comes on 2nd half, turns the game around and we go 2-1 up and he's back on song. Suddenly (and I wasn't there, so can only go by GPs comments) after being subjected to what Stu Dunne called a " disgraceful" challenge, he gets sent off. GP says he did nothing and the 4th official apparently backs this up. But, the text messages pouring into BBC Radio Shrops were baying for his blood!? Feck me. how the hell can they judge from their homes/cars??? What has the lad done to deserve it? Name one player other than Langmead who works harder or covers more ground? The lad is a huge talent that needs to be re-invigorated by GP after being crushed by JQ. If Gary can transform Jamie, Davie Edwards, Granty and Sedge into quality players, imagine what he'll do with Lukie - IF WE GIVE HIM A CHANCE!!! I am so p**sed off with hearing people dumping on Luke - he is going to be a star player - if you can't see that, take your white stick and throw it so your labrador can get far enough away from you to take a breath that hasn't come from an A*******! Rant Over

Cheers Rob - I tried to be diplomatic, but hopefully it made a point.
Maybe I should get that UN application in the post eh?

Agreed. Looking back on it I didn't see the incident clearly and I would like to see it again before making a decision on it.

Ant Wise beyond your years or is that "wide beyond your ears"? Arf Arf! To be fair I've had a few hours journey back to mull things over. That's often the problem with internet messageboards - people post crap before they've had time to think about it.

Agree 100% Slagging him or any other player off that isnt having a good game or has hit a slight dip in form won't help them improve, shout words of encouragement and support and give some of the lads a break. THAT is what supporters are there for. BACKING UP the team, not slating it.

Yeah, it does seem ridiculous to blame Luke for the fact that we went from 2-1 up to losing 4-2 in the last 15 minutes. Unless he was playing centre back today, which would be a radical tactical shake up in anyone's book! I think some of the people on here baying for blood will feel a bit embarrassed of themselves later.

Sorry but I too have just got back and have posted on another thread my thoughts. To summarise: Luke did look as if he was going to retaliate and I really do feel that he must learn to walk away and take it. He can only ruin himself in the long run.
I didn't hear our fans baiting him but I was in the stand. I certainly did hear Yeovil fans shouting for him to be sent off and that is something that is quite normal.
He MUST learn to discipline himself on the pitch and acccept that he is always going to be a target for opposition players and fans. I would hate to be in his position myself but if he wants to be successful it is just something he must accept.

Rant Over You are right about the anti-Luke thing- its just not on but in terms of the general discipline thing then people have a point- its still a big problem and could cost us dear if it doesnt get sorted- you cannot raise your arm to an opposing player and expect to stay on the pitch- 3 or 4 players have been guilty of this in the last couple of matches. If our players get sent off for a bad mistimed tackle or two, fair enough, its part of the game- attempted right hooks arent

Regardless of whether he was rightly sent off or was unlucky i cant see how anyone think it didnt alter the outcome of the game. It handed the intiative back to Yeovil with 10 V 10 and they responded. If we had the extra player for the last 15 minutes im confident we could have held on for at least a draw. Do you think we would have lost 4-2 if Luke had stayed on the pitch??
