Ainsworth's pre-match interview was interesting. He gave away absolutely nothing about preferred formation or style of play but I was really pleased to hear him say that he believes in consistency of selection and has no time for the chopping and changing of formations and playing people out of position that so many managers now seem to attempt - and in Salop's case with a marked lack of success. He sounds as if he knows how to get the best out of lower league footballers (and hopefully young loanees as well). It sounds positive but he has stressed that it will obviously not happen overnight. That's fine - as long as the consistent selection starts to deliver. You've nowhere else to go if it fails. I'm more optimistic than for a long time. Not about today particularly but, if Birmingham are going to take the points, I want to see us make them uncomfortable in doing so. Step one is to stop being such a soft touch.
