Not an expert at all,but I understand that it's a software problem not a hack something to do with an anti virus programme A reasonable savy "puter" lady told me. (Wifey) .

Manual fix according to CrowdStrike, and currently no automated solution.
That's going to be a fun explainer to the average user who struggle with opening an attachment.

Yes, just read that it’s due to an update by a cyber security firm which has caused problems worldwide . Stand back and wait for all the conspiracy theorists to have a field day . My bet is on Russia or extra terrestrial activity , ufo’s lurking behind a planet somewhere testing our IT systems. Anyone else have theories which may give us all a chuckle 😂😂

Cyber security gone mad! An anti virus patch that takes your computer down? There's an anti virus firm that's going to lose all credibility here.

Cyber security gone mad! An anti virus patch that takes your computer down? There's an anti virus firm that's going to lose all credibility somewhere here. It's Crowdstrike
Here's the full statement from George Kurtz, the CEO of Crowdstrike: "Crowdstrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts. "Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted. This is not a security incident or cyberattack. "The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed. "We refer customers to the support portal for the latest updates and will continue to provide complete and continuous updates on our website. "We further recommend organisations ensure they’re communicating with Crowdstrike representatives through official channels. "Our team is fully mobilised to ensure the security and stability of Crowdstrike customers."

Its currently carnage in the industry this morning, 6 cups of coffee in already.
Issue seems to be an update which had a fault which has then been pushed out to clients over night.
Right, thats my 5 min break today.. back to it!!

Seems bonkers that one patch can ground flights and stop operations at hospitals.
Too much centralised reliance. To think they broke it themselves is bonkers.

This never happened in the good old days , when we had carbon paper and such like . Oh, and Royal Mail was at its very best delivering on time . Seems to me with computer systems they are either horrendously expensive and don’t do what they were purchased to do or some firm providing security measures f.cks up big time . I envisage this providing loads of excuses by various firms for not providing a service .

Maybe Boris has got a new job 😉 Can't be that, this is fixable.
Someone with the "I'm right" mentality of Liz Truss perhaps?

The issue is they can't just roll out another patch to fix it. This will require entering bitlocker keys manually, booting into safe mode and manually deleting a file.
Crowdstrike was mega expensive which is why I never went for it where I work, counting my lucky stars now.

They either want to be Green. Or they dont.

Stick the cuttings in a bag and when it’s safe sneak out in the car with the bag and welly it up some farmers hedge . Nobody will know and the farmers dont mind , they’re too busy chucking dead badgers on the roads . Word of warning , don’t get your cuttings mixed up with the bag of letters you haven’t delivered . You’ll get caught . Always here to offer advice .😉😂😂

At £56 pounds a year in an attempt to bail out your useless Shropshire Council it makes you wonder if a private firm could offer something cheaper, maybe not so often, maybe on demand?
People really need to get out and vote at council elections.
I read that Telford used a little of their reserves to stay solvent and don't propose bringing in a charge for garden waste.

Our Councils saving its reserves to fill the massive hole in funding for the NWR Road. As costs soar so the deficit increases . Despite the expected rise in Council Tax there will still be an extremely large contribution required . Of course that’s if the project goes ahead !

It's worrying that in our interconnected age when virtually everything is run by some kind of computer program, that even a minor glitch can cause such global disruption.
Imagine what would happen if it were a deliberate cyber-attack.
We are hopelessly vulnerable.
