Another half decent signing.
From reading Rovers fans comments he's shown a lot of potential but has struggled to develop so hopefully this move is the kick start he needs.
Worryingly he has not been training at Rovers so hopefully he has been keeping himself fit somewhere

Worryingly he has not been training at Rovers so hopefully he has been keeping himself fit somewhere I read yesterday that he had done a Dan Udoh and then some ! He had literally disappeared,wasn't responding to calls and messages and the club had no idea where he was and presumed that he wasn't signing a new deal. He was 'found' by a fan training on the beach at Newport with his own personal trainer |

Like the look of this one. Who was the last genuine right back at the club? Honestly can’t even remember.
We’ve got a starting eleven on paper now. Although I’d like to see upgrades at centre half, and upgrades on Bloxham and Lloyd.

That goes for any player, not just this one. |

Elliott Thorpe was signed there for last season but not sure he ever ended up playing did he? I reckon the last time a genuine right back was at the club was Donald Love in 2020-2021. |

Wondered about Elliott Thorpe, so just had a look and it appears he's been on trial at Notts County. Scored for them the other day and by the accounts I can see was impressive. Feels like there is some semblance of an XI now at least that could realistically start. Whether they are fit to do so in another matter though.
Still have to say has the feel of a league two side squad though - possibly only bar Shipley and Winchester right now.
Squad togetherness, clear shapes and roles and set pieces going to be vital this season

Thorpe played something like 5 minutes in the league between injuries and his loan being cancelled. It's been a massive issue for us over the past couple of seasons. We've been so blunt down that side because we've been using players out of position there. It's why we can't afford to just sign Hoole, we need a second right back in the squad. Particularly because the most likely alternatives if we don't are Feeney (he works hard but is too slow) and Winchester (too important in midfield to be moved). It's not like we've got a young quick centre back who could potentially move over there. |

Interesting if Hoole is the first choice right back or he's more right sided cover, with the line from Hurst that he needs to develop (Similar to what was said about Toby Savin as well).
