Just had email
"Shrewsbury Town’s first home league game of the season will now kick off at 12.30pm for live television coverage.
Our clash against Peterborough United on Saturday August 17 has been brought forward for live coverage on Sky Sports + - the brand new channel, streaming option and app from Sky Sports which launches in August.
With our opening day clash away at Stevenage kicking off at 5.30pm, these will be the only fixtures changed up to the end of September."

Surprised this post hasn't got more traction
I remember people threatening to cancel their season ticket because they couldn't attend an early kick off against Bolton a couple of Christmases ago to avoid clashing with the World Cup.

I look forward to a bit of variety with kick off times.
Who remembers when we used to regularly play on a Friday night at Gay Meadow.
What will be interesting is any impact on attendances when Sky start broadcasting

What will be interesting is any impact on attendances when Sky start broadcasting I'd imagine it will certainly reduce the away crowd. As for casual home fans, sit at home/ in the pub or pay £26 to go to the ground?

I think you'll find it was pretty much just me that moaned about those games and got slaughtered and laughed at from all angles saying my season ticket doesn't guarantee a 3pm kick off , lots of tongue biting going to be had this season 😝😝😝😝😝😝

As for casual home fans, sit at home/ in the pub or pay £26 to go to the ground? a season ticket gets you to see 23 town games Sky gets you roughly the same amount of town games with zero travelling expenses and in the comfort of your own home the cliff edge between the premier league to championship And champ to leagues 1 & 2 already massive but about to become light years apart And it will get worse

But the casual fan, that's the biggest concern. In a successful side then people will choose to come over sitting at home but if we struggle then I think it will have a big impact (particularly with our price rises in recent seasons). I agree that this could change football altogether in the lower leagues, yes more money thrown at the game but the "armchair" fan could stretch to the lower leagues now

Two ways of looking at it. From a TV (and revenue) point of view it’s rather crap, our first 3 games live on sky and nothing live again until at least October.
From a disruption point of view we’ve got off lightly, Blues, Wrexham etc have sporadic games during this time moved for TV and that’s not great for fans.
From a selfish viewpoint I’d like more away games on TV for us as not always able to get to those.

Yep....seems to remember Southport and Tranmere regularly playing on a Friday night too I've got fond memories of Friday night is Rovers night. A surprising number of Liverpudlians used to take the "ferry across the Mersey" to watch Tranmere on a Friday night and then Liverpool/ Everton on Saturday Problem was as time progressed the team failed, attendances fell and the club couldn't afford to have the floodlights on all evening
