Nothing to be concerned about from yesterday specifically, but I do think the lack of proper LB and LW, aswell as playing TAA in midfield might cost us as we progress through the tournament. Such a shame Saka, Palmer and Foden all play very similar positions for their clubs.

Appreciate this is a grumpy opinion but it's something Southgate has proven me right on during every international tournament so far. We should be doing better with the quality of players available to us - Sitting back with a 1-0 lead with Saka, Kane, Foden, Bellingham on the pitch is bordering on criminal. I saw some interesting analysis from Ten-Hag from yesterday's game, and well generally Southgate's approach. "It's the vision of the manager [Southgate]," he said. "England will take a 1-0 lead, then he [Southgate] decides to start gambling with making his team compact and relying on moments for the remaining minutes of the game."

That's why he is United's manager and long may it continue by telling us something that everyone has known since Southgate started.

Congratulations England it is always nice to start with a win, sometimes Southgate can't win he gets criticized for been negative after getting the lead, if he had gone for it to get more goals he would be criticized fir not holding on to the lead. As the tornoument progresses we will get an idea of how other teams are performing.

The lack of ambition after we’d taken the lead worries me. Southgate would rather have us keep possession than look for further goals to secure the game. Would have served us right if Serbia had scored. We won’t win the tournament with 1-0 every time.
Bellingham was good but he did lose the ball quite a few times when trying tight turns against two opponents. Good when it comes off in forward areas, but not in midfield.

I liked the interview they showed on the BBC
they suggested to Southgate, if you dont win, fans will say you should have won, if you win fans will say you should have won better
so true

I don't understand why we have the best league in Europe, the best players playing in that league and we yet never see the England team play with the same intensity. [/div][/quote]Teams reflect their manager. Southgate is a defensive coach. He's not exactly inspiring

Im a neutral obviously. 9 - Bellingham 8 - Saka 7 - Kane, Rice, TAA 6 - everyone else Thought it was fairly comfortable for you guys. Personally I'd give most of them 6.5 or 7. Kane gets a 6 for his second half performance and his very well saved chance, but first half he was anonymous at best, more fouls than meaningful touches. Foden gets a 5, Saka and Rice 8 and Bellingham 9.
Job done, but it wasn't exactly free flowing football and if not for a very good save late on from Pickford it could easily have been a missed opportunity.
I don't understand why we have the best league in Europe, the best players playing in that league and we yet never see the England team play with the same intensity.
I don't see any reason to not top the group with 9 points and hopefully kick on once the knockout phase begins. pick your best xi from all those participating and lets us know how many are English and play in the premier league foden maybe ?

just watching Romania v Ukraine the blue & yellow derby it seems, opted to support Romania as they were the underdogs, but they are leading 3-0 and deserve it , Ukraine keeper not so good, and Romania have just brought on 'Son of Hagi'. doesnt get much better than that

His dad is Mark Bellingham who scored over 700 goals in non-league football. His younger brother Jobe who plays for Sunderland also looks to be a very decent player. His dad still plays Vets Football in Essex, despite living in Birmingham Yea, having nothing better to do on my way up to Manchester, I looked him up. Makes you wonder if he'd been full time how good he could have been.

Heading back tomorrow after a great few days in Hamburg and Dusseldorf. Got to Poland/Holland and France/Austria with four terrific supports.
Decent games both and everything ran like clockwork ever since leaving Manchester Airport....
Lad with a red Shrewsbury top a few rows behind me tonight but didn't get a chance for a chat.
Unbelievable experience these tournaments are. Let's hope for more good football. 2nd round on going tonbe fascinating.

For me have to try and get Foden in a similar position he lines up with city.
I'd like to see a 4141 with Rice sitting behind Saka/Palmer Bellingham Foden Gordon.
The latter has been superb for Newcastle this season and certainly gives a more natural protection to our weak left side whilst Shaw increases fitness. Bellingham has more than enough energy to help support Rice in the trenches.
Still think the lack of another specialist left back was a mistake.

As Keane, wright, and Neville said......he won't change or take off the players he relies on....so forget about moving foden into middle,or taking kane off,if he's playing s**t again🤷🤷🤷

Yes I think they're wrong too.....if foden or kane are playing s**t....take em off....but as we all know, Southgate won't.... especially kane🤷🤷🤷 it's hardly worth Toney or Watkins being there,if that's the case🤷

May have been mentioned already...but Town has an ex-player in the Scotland team. Jack Hendry who played for us on loan from Wigan back in 2016. He currently plays for Stevie Gerrards' team out in Saudi Arabia.

Great game in Group F with Turkey deservedly beating Georgia 3-1. Two attack minded teams playing flowing football and two excellent strikes for Turkey.

Fantastic game of football, noise was deafening when Croatia went 2-1 up. Great when Albania equalised to punish Croat time wasting
