I am not without some hope for improvement next season based not on MM but on what Hurst and Doig did when they were last here I think to keep the fanbase engaged we need a much better season than this one that I would describe as dreary and pretty boring One thing I do think is that the team will be much fitter next season

I note the investors who were meant to be off to Burton didn't go in the end...
We need buying, end of. Otherwise it's endless seasons in 17th in league one. That's why I've not renewed this year. I'll come back once we're actually going to do something other than tred water.

Out of interest does anyone ever remember if there had been a Shrewsbury Town shop in the centre of town? I can't remember there ever being one but I can't see it being expensive to run a small shop somewhere near pride hill.
Would imagine that would bring some money in, inspire some supporters, create a link etc. Being able to buy match day tickets/season tickets/merch, check upcoming fixtures, transport schedules to the ground etc would be a godsend for those who don't drive instead of having to go the ground.

You’d be better off putting a club shop on a retail park or in Telford than in the town centre these days. It’s absolutely woeful for shoppers.

20th, 18th, 3rd, 18th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 12th...and we're currently 17th again. One season where it came together under Hurst. Other than that, one other top half finish (just) that transpires we couldn't afford anyhow. As far as I can see we are nowhere nearer getting into the Championship as we were when we first got back into the 3rd near on ten years ago. We are going nowhere. We have stalled. The fact that we are the longest serving club in League 1 just goes to prove that.

Problem is we’re in a 5 year contract with Elite Pro Sports so they’d have to think it’s a worth while investment and we wouldn’t see all the profits. They don’t even think it’s worth manning the shop at the club more than a few hours a week. Shops are closing on high streets, not the time to open a retail store.

If we do stay up this season I can only see yet another struggle next season.

Okay so I am prepared to be unpopular, but did we not get up to 6th last year and in the playoff spots for a while, then it tailed off back end of the season? Do correct me, but my memory says we were doing well, then had three dodgy red cards in three pretty much successive games, two of which were later rescinded, and looked okay up to Festive break. Football style not to everyone's taste, sure, but I am sure we were in the play off spots for a while. This season is transition we know, but with PH and CD in for next year, the future seems to have some brightness about it, I for one am looking forward to wingers and a wide pitch maybe?

We’ve just posted a loss of £3 million so opening a club shop with staff to pay, high street rents & rates is not a good idea right now.

We were 8th at one point. We did have that purple spell in January/February but sadly it all went downhill after then, as we finished the season losing 8 of our last 10 games, and broke the bank in the process. Do we know for sure that Hurst & Doig are with us for next season?

Sorry to be Mr Pedantic but we're not the longest serving club in L1 , that's Fleetwood with 10 year s, we've been here 9 years. However when Fleetwood go down and if we stay up!!..it's the Shrewsbury division

We’re only 4 points off 12th so just shows how close it is.
Interesting discussion with Darragh MacAnthony on talk sport yesterday explaining the Peterborough model, think he said they’re waiting on 2 clubs to get to Premiership for a big pay out from contract add ons, Ipswich and Coventry I think they.

I could go on All been relegated from League 1 in last 10 years so we’re in a fairly good place.

I think the Third Division....or whatever it's now called has always been the natural home of STFC.
Apart from a ten year stint in the old Second Division, various episodes in the Fourth Division and one in the Conference. I would think that we have been in the third tier for most of our league history. I'm always amazed by fans who think we should be much higher in the pyramid when our long-term average gates are around 6,500.

We were about 8th from then till 11 March, then it gradually died away. My bad, but we did have a shot for a while.
