We played QPR regularly during the first half of the 1960s, which reminded me of the thread about memorable opposition players. Their winger Mark Lazarus always tormented our defence and was the first Jewish player I can remember. … and got a lot of abuse, directed at Jewish players - well before what we would more commonly understand as racism as there weren’t black players in the game at this time. I a QPR friend to the Orient game and we were musing on how long it was since we had played each other, alarmingly I could name some of the characters around their 1960’s team - entertaining they certainly were! I’m sorry to hear about the abuse, I used to go with my Dad and Uncle and we stood in the Paddock which was probably more well mannered than other sections of the ground, so wasn’t aware of it.

I always laugh at a story Chris Smith told me about QPR. I think late 70s/early 80s we played them in the Cup and a decent following of around 6k, many of the town fans were drunk and were very rowdy in the ground and around West London. A police officer said to Chris something like "we get big followings here from the likes of Chelsea, Spurs, Man United, but for a s**tty little club from the arse end of nowhere, you are the biggest bunch of ar$eholes I've ever come across". Brings a tear to your eye. What an away day that was 👍Right up there for me in my top 10 memories of following the Town. The support we had on the day was mental for us. The game was good as well against a very good team. Our coach dropped us off at White City at 1:00pm and we were told to get back on it at Trafalgar Square at midnight !

It's an interesting tussle at the top of the championship too.
Leicester's lead at the top has been whittled down of late.

Who joins Rotherham Utd?
Plymouth Argyle are suddenly in the mix after a poor run of late.

Probably Rotherham, Sheff Wed and Plymouth - just shows the gap between Championship and League One.

Birmingham would be a good fixture. Definitely not Millwall, I've still got PTSD from my last visit there in the 80s.😳

I guess if they went up to the Premier though they would take Sheff United place as whipping boys.

Taking Rotherham out of the equation it now comes down to a wish list of sorts. I’m bored by Sheff Wed so would prefer Huddersfield and Birmingham for away day options, but I suspect Rowett will rally The Blues so it will probably be Argyle.

Perhaps we’re such a boring club to follow that each month feels like a whole season.

Plymouth have just sacked their manager after 3 months in charge. They sit 1 point above the relegation spots. How do you all fancy a trip to sunny Plymouth next season?

One of those crazy things about football and all that you put into it and all that it takes out of you that when it comes to those disappointing days at Wembley we played Bristol yesterday, Gillingham are the division below and we'll be welcoming Rotherham again next season. Still wouldn't mind a dip in the Championship though.

I was hoping for a short trip to Birmingham - they have some tough fixtures Leicester/Cardiff/Coventry/ and then Huddersfield, lastly Rotherham
Stoke is now unlikely I think, Fingers crossed for Wednesday to stay up.

I’m not sure I like this thread.
It’s got an air of ‘we’re definitely staying up so we’re going to discuss who we might be playing next season’!!! 😉

I’m not sure I like this thread. It’s got an air of ‘we’re definitely staying up so we’re going to discuss who we might be playing next season’!!! 😉 I started the thread way back on 6th March so a month ago now. It was really to point out just how tight the bottom half of the table was back then. I'm sure we all hoped that we would be over the 50 point barrier by now. We arent there yet which is disappointing but it would take quite a major collapse over the last 5 games plus one those below us to have a very good run to end the season to see us go down. I will be happy to see us with a few more points but I dont see us being so bad that we go down.

If one looks at a scatter chart plotting:
x-axis - poppers usage amongst the first team squad (vials per man per day) y-axis - Championship league points procured
It’s one of the clearest correlations one could ever wish to witness.
