Well done to Maidstone.
Nice to see Ipswich made so many changes, they obviously thought it would be easy to put the fringe players in. Always nice when that backfires. Yes I do still have a certain dislike of Ipswich 🙂

I would just like to congratulate Maidstone on an excellent result today. Well done them. just 2 shots of any sort all game and 22% possession, proof those stats need ignoring for good

2 well taken goals too... The magic of the cup is still alive and kicking. Thought their first goal was a wonderful finish, would have looked good in the premier league never mind from a southern league player. Fantastic result for them but to win with goals that good is something special

Shows what a great competition the FA Cup still is. A great pity that some of the bigger clubs dont show it the respect it deserves. Enjoyed watching Maidstone so much more than an all premiership tie. So much more at stake for them. The financial benefit for them will be massive and make so much difference to what is a very community minded club.

Did anyone see the fan celebrating the goal a little to much that he fell from the top tier to the bottom tier

Which will illustrate how biased towards the Premier League clubs the competition is.

It’s nit just the completion itself they disrespect as well it’s the clubs they play against and their fans - as so well illustrated yesterday at Ipswich.

Sheff Weds or Coventry away.
They'll probably be disappointed with that draw.

On paper Ipswich are better than both of them, but to steal the point made by Brian Clough the game is played on grass.

If it had been a 3rd round draw then they would probably be ok with it. But having caused the upset of the season they would be dreaming of playing at Old Trafford, Anfield, etc. not playing at Sheff Weds of Coventry in a near empty stadium

I am sure whoever Maidstone play will have learned a lesson from Ipswich. Don't disrespect the competition and make ten changes.

And at least they’ve missed the arrogance of Liverpool. There is this. Not just Liverpool but any big 4 club will carry the attitude of plucky chancers on their day out, backed up by the mainstream media who still seem to think anything non-league consists of a hobby for postmen and teachers on their day off. Everyone wants the glamour tie, but on the other side of the coin there’s also an attraction of playing a Championship side who although favourites, know there is a potential to be beaten. Some of my favourite FA Cup memories include the wins over Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City, just as much as Everton,

Maidstone fans (and players) are realistic and know the likelihood is they won’t reach the third round and the opportunity to play the giants of the English game again for many years, so who can blame them for wanting a once in a lifetime trip to a packed out Anfield, Old Trafford, St James Park or the like.
Hillsbrough/Coventry are both great stadiums in their own right, but the grounds will be half full at best and they won’t get to see their players go toe to toe against the very best.
When all’s said and done I’m sure they’ll have a memorable day all the same, but it’s not quite the reward they deserved.

Great to see at least one lower league team get as far as they have..
Salop related fact: George Elokobi got sent off at the Meadow when he was playing for Chester back in the mid-2000s - we beat them 5-0 (one of my favourite matches from the Peters Era)
