Controversial opinion of the day - Moore is the Director of Football (rightly or wrongly) and the DoF should choose the head coach. That's how it's meant to work.
Wycherley might have a say but he has to delegate the final decision, otherwise we can't be serious about having a DoF.

It's controversial in that a lot of fans wanted (and still want) Moore out. So to have him decide on the next appointment probably wouldn't be popular. I'm not sure we can say that's not how it works at Salop. We've never been in this position before. All I'm saying is that's how it should work.

Problem with some of the choices are what length of contract we’d have to give.
Hurst maybe happy with a contract til the end of the season but would Duff or someone already employed like Jim Goodwin for example.
Not happy with the DoF debacle (my opinion) so wouldn’t want a head coach or manager on a long contract with MM still in place. Duff worked well with MM when he arrived at Cheltenham as manager with MM head of recruitment. Worked well so why invent an extra layer of management when your on a very tight budget.

In that case, I would say he isn't really a Director of Football.

Can’t say I’m particularly surprised that Roland’s interpretation of the role is vastly different to the usual!

Sounds like Hurst is Roland’s first choice, and you’d imagine that Duff is Moore’s first choice. Roland will surely pull rank. But it will surely come down to whether Hurst and Moore can work together you’d imagine. There's a lot of speculation along these lines, and I do wonder whether it's quite as rigid as some think or whether there's some room for compromise from both. Hurst's career has been up and down since us and I can't imagine he'd be in the frame for many other League 1 jobs other than us. Moore's had success in one job ultimately, and if he left us now it would reflect pretty poorly on him. If Roland's strong enough to say "like it or leave it" to both then I don't personally see either being in a strong enough position to say no.

I'd prefer the latter personally, wouldnt shed any tears if he went alongside his mate Bignot.

So, who takes credit for today’s win at Northampton? PH as he’s ‘Head Coach’ and selected the squad, starting XI, formation and tactics, RW because he’s the Chairman and the one who’s brought back PH & CD to the club, or MM as DoF due to his player recruitment…
….or is it SC and BC for over-spending last season and potentially costing the club the chance of a lucrative takeover - which means we are in the position we currently find ourselves (hopefully not for long)
Open for discussion

( they wouldn't even be about rickets thats for sure ) I would also imagine the cost for all these changes has come out of his pocket too Well done Mr Chairman, this was a hard call considering the % of town fans against Hurst but I think that % has fallen considerably this week, or even fallen a little bit reluctantly with some fans but its falling

My biggest take from this week in general? PH’s opening interview stating it was good to see so many familiar faces around (RW…?) Maybe after Ipswich, he wanted to come ‘home’? Heard we’d enquired about PH & CD during the close season, but Grimsby priced us out…as soon as Grimsby let them go, Taylor was on borrowed time. I bet PH has players lined up and ‘suggested’ to our DoF and are inbound ready for next weekend
