I'm happy enough with our transfer window business. We've brought in Oduwe and Hachey (loan) and brought back Bloxham and O'Brien. Under Hurst we've got enough to stay up comfortably and I'd rather our own players are allowed to prove themselves. They won't do that if the team is packed with loans who will likely disappear in April. Let's see what Sabowale, Oduwe, Mata, Bloxham, Sraha, Perry and Bowman can do in a properly set up system rather than this park the bus mentality we've had for three years. In the summer Hurst can then sort the wheat from the chaff, who wants to stay and who wants to go, who we can afford and those we cannot.
I think we're in for an enjoyable and interesting end of season. It couldn't possibly be worse anyway.

My main concern though is that we had targets, confirmed, which we failed to get over the line.

Quite likely the Hurst coming back factor has changed ideas, especially if RW has given him the budget limits going forward rather than just for January.

with so many out of contract in the summer its going to give PH a real opportunity to stamp his authority on the side. With that in mind he may have wished to retain budget for then or thought we have enough to do what we need to do. No point bringing in players to sit on the bench as just causes issues, Only position i think we probably needed an extra body is right back, but given what we have that can be covered. In the summer id expect another complete change around

Fleming has returned to Hull City apparently. Yes, returned.

Summer is the time for a rebuild. As long as we have enough to stay up (& I think we do), I see no point in committing funds in January. Would have liked to see a right back join on loan though.

good time to bring this back I think good old Shropshire star, gave some gullible fans hope with their clickbait ;-) Every local paper is going to over egg everything about every club just to have a story, especially when they want to sell you a subscription. There's usually some truth in their stories, but only because they asked leading questions.
"a busy month for the club with players either joining the club or moving on". - Well it was really because there were injured loanees to sort out in the moving on section. MM was also busy trying to get in some that didn't work out plus thee's bound to be a refocus with a new manager.

He talked about injuries and the need to strengthen in Jan and something about bringing in reinforcements…. but the posts I brought up were from the pompey match thread and even if you click the Shropshire star link it says what Taylor said, I think what actually happened during the window perfectly describes his comments from mid December “I am expecting it to be a busy month getting players out of the treatment room,” he said when asked about January transfer plans. “Of course, there will be players, new players that come into the squad, will there be players that maybe move on? I would imagine so.

No point bringing in players to sit on the bench as just causes issues, Only position i think we probably needed an extra body is right back, but given what we have that can be covered. In the summer id expect another complete change around I think this is probably true. Hurst coming back would have taken a bit of budget, but also more hope that he is able to keep them up this season so less need to throw money at keeping club in the league. Playing a vague 4231, there is more or less cover in every position. Using starting XI from last Saturday as a base: Marosi - Burgoyne Feeney - Bennett Dunkley - Flanagan when he returns Pierre - Sraha Benning - Anderson. Unsure about Fleming? And Nurse if he returns this season Perry - Hinchy Winchester - Kenneh Bloxham - Sobowale Bayliss - Idowu Shipley - O'Brien Udoh - Mata/Bowman RB is probably the weakest bit as Feeney is a centre back and may need to cover there if Dunkley is out, but Winchester and Sobowale also able to play there as well as Bennett, so there is cover. Now injuries and fitness seem better than they have been at times, there may be times when senior players may actually miss out from the squad!

with the current issue of every club suddenly realising FFP is possibly a real thing, no one had dared to splash out
this makes we wonder why if there is a limit of sorts why the need for a window at all ?
just scrap it and go back to making transfers when you actually need them

good time to bring this back I think good old Shropshire star, gave some gullible fans hope with their clickbait ;-) Going back to your post saying **** all happens at any club. Demonstrably untrue at the numerous clubs around us who have bought in multiple players. We also have seen 4 loans leave, 1 loan arrive and 1 perm plus 2 returning loans. Hardly fitting your description either. So to me it seems Shropshire stars "transfer window fireworks" is a better descriptor of our transfer window than Pilchs "**** all happens at any club"
