Let’s hope he’s the one referred to as going in earlier interviews.

Wonder if that makes Bowman staying for more likely?

Wonder if that makes Bowman staying for more likely? Bowman is a far more prolific striker than OBrien - for us at least. Then again Bowman is the most prolific striker that we have, and he cant get a game. Says a lot really....

What an absolute balls up of a signing Players are humans, not robots. On field injuries, off field personal life, plenty of scope for things to go awry. For the ultimate balls up of a signing how about Mendy?

So disappointing it's not worked out, for all parties concerned.

I'm guessing the 'wants to move closer to the family' is just everyone trying to be diplomatic, based on him starting last week and then the cryptic post match interview.
A huge challenge now to get him off the wage bill and bring someone else in.

I suppose it can happen to anyone but when you're a club like Town we just can't afford stuff like this. I mean if we're to see any success.

And people thought Cosgrove was a problem last season. Good luck all at Burton.

Family reasons, really? He started last week came off at half time and then we had the SC interview to follow and a doubt cast about his injury. I may be cynical but i think this has been brewing very early into the season.

"Closer to family" is the cover story if the rumours are to be believed. A very expensive waste of money either way!

Who was the last player who left because he wanted to be closer to his family and subsequently bounced around the country like a yoyo?
Stefan Payne.

A huge challenge now to get him off the wage bill and bring someone else in. Fall out with Cotterill early in the season Id suggest. This was Cotterill from November ‘ But he gave a more positive outlook on Aiden O’Brien’s injury, suggesting there was no clear problem with the results of the forward’s scan.’

4-0 today , no doubt a sarky parting shot from the manager to follow

I imagine town will let him go for free just to get rid of him.
I don't see the need for the blatant lie about the reasoning though. We can all accept if he goes against the manager then he is out, no need to make up some BS.

Aidens home address is apparently Islington North London. Plenty of clubs to go to closer to home even if we all know being closer to home ain't the reason he is leaving 😔

It's down to the player now. If he wants to go then a mutual contract cancellation works, however if we are desperate to get rid he might hold out for a pay out and it will drag on (he's 6 months into a 2 year contract)
I read somewhere on the other day that Gillingham were after him, they have been splashing the cash after a takeover, although I'd be surprised if he dropped into L2.

Really disappointed with this. Has a proven track record at this level and felt a bit a coup to get him.
Really hope we can get a quality replacement in and get his no doubt considerable wage off the books as soon as possible.

Where is closer to home for O’Brien? His last two clubs have been Sunderland and Portsmouth, anyone who believes that excuse is a mug.
Such a shame and a colossal waste of money. To think in the summer the thought of Udoh and O’Brien being our first choice strike partnership was really exciting.
