Hoping B&A members can help here. His lad Jack is in the nominations for goal of the month in the League of Ireland and needs more votes to win it. Currently he is a close 2nd so every vote will help.
I'm told the voting finishes tomorrow (Friday) so not long to do it. GOAL 3 is the one to vote for.
A few of you will know that Tommy looks in on B&A from time to time, and he wishes us well for the new season and feels the new signings are very positive. And will no doubt be very grateful for every vote.

Hey guys, there are 2 groups of 4, Jack is ahead in his group of 4 but the other lad from second group is ahead overall. Any vote is much appreciated. Cheers from Ireland, Tommy.

Can’t in all conscience vote for a goal if I don’t think it’s the best, just because of some tenuous connection to the Town. That’s why Man Utd or Liverpool goals win such competitions usually. Makes a mockery of the competition.

Makes a mockery of the competition. Think that is exactly why the other guy is out in front. His club have a bigger fan base. So these things are always going to work in the favour of the better supported sides. Tommy is just trying to support his lad which as a parent we would all do.

Perhaps the other lad’s dad is just doing the same?

I’m afraid today we have to play these clubs at their own game. It’s the way of the world at the moment.

Hi Worthingshrew. I have no issue whatsoever with you voting or not voting for my son. Your reason is perfectly just and fair and you are fully entitled to it and I'm sure other people agree with you. However I do take exception when you say I had "some tenuous connection to the Town". What do you base your statement on, or do you believe every ex player's connection is now tenuous. Of all the words one could use to describe my time in Shrewsbury both on and off the pitch, tenuous wouldn't come into my mindset. Both my wife and I loved living there. I loved playing for Shrewsbury. My daughter was born there and our closest friends live there. It was our home for the bones of 7 years and we look back on it as a wonderful time in our lives. We wouldn't change it for anything, it has played a big part in making us and bringing us too where we are today. There, I had to say that, I sat on it overnight wondering if I should reply or not, but in the end I had to, if I did not, I wouldn't have been true to myself. That's it, take care, next time I'm over, we should meet up, have a beer and you can then see me for who I am and you can then decide if I'm capable if having a tenuous connection with anyone or anything. Tommy

No way is your connection tenuous. I started following in 1992/93 and you are one of my best memories of that time. If we’d had more like you over the intervening years our history may well have been very different.

After following Town for 49yrs, I'm often asked who my all time favorite town player was. The answer is always the the same "Its the Tominator", 100% Commitment and tackles that made me wince. Thanks for the memories Tommy.

Well I've voted for him and haven't even watched it!! Tommy's words good enough for me.
How many ex players have this connection with the club and Town and actually log on to a fans message board over 20 years after they left the club, just Tommy I would say which tells us everything we need to know.

To be fair to Worthing I think he was referring to Jack rather than Tommy, as in voting for a player whose dad played for us. Maybe anyhow. No doubt at all that for the vast majority of us Town fans, and more so those who were around to see him play, Tommy Lynch is a Town legend. Think it's great that he gets on here from time to time. Makes your day...

Thanks for the memories Tommy. Good that that was the case, after your first build up sentence I was hoping you weren't going to spoil it by saying "Alf Wood"
Hopefully we will get an update that Jack won and an unbiased word to his son and the club if he's someone we should consider...

I liked the way he eyed it up a couple of times, looks like ‘shall I? shall I’ & then pings it in. Got my vote though I’ve only got the tenuous link with Shrewsbury of being born there 50 years ago 🥳

Tommy Hi Tommy, my sincere apologies if I’ve caused offence. Of course, your connection is far from tenuous, and I remember your playing days with great affection. My comment about a tenuous connection was not intended to be relevant to you, but rather a general comment. I’m sure in hindsight I could and should have expressed myself better, but that’s s often the way with social media. id love to have a beer with you, but I don’t anticipate getting to many home games these days from deepest Sussex. Best wishes to you and your family.

Brilliant!!!
I’ve never seen a STFC hall of famer, who played well over 200 games Salop, described as having a ‘tenuous link’ to the club?! I mean really….??
Anyone who ever watched Tommy Lynch play for the Town knows that he was an absolute 100% player all game every game and would be my left back in my all time STFC favourite team.
If nothing else, it’s an uneducated statement at best and totally disrespectful.
If you don’t agree with the voting, that’s your prerogative, don’t vote or choose someone else to vote for. No need for any further comments - especially unfounded ones

Fair play for apologising to Tommy.
We as a club need to embrace our heritage and Tommy played a big part in our history.
(Ps. If you do end up going for a beer, I’d love to join you and reminisce about those good old days!!)

Lads, the subject is over, Worthingshrew has explained where he was coming from, he is right when he says words can get lost in translation on social media, and it could have been worded differently. He understood my point, and was man enough to apologise if he caused offence. Its over, please no more comments. We are all on the same team after all. Onwards and upwards for the Town.. See ye all sometime in the season ahead. Best wishes from across the water. Tommy

Did we do enough to get Jack to the top of the nominees or not?

Off topic slightly but Tommy's Cruyff turn at Wigan still makes me smile to this day! Made standing on that grass bank freezing cold worthwhile!

Anyone remember Tommy playing a couple of games as a makeshift striker for Town?
You could tell he wasnt, erm shall we say a 'natural' but as usual gave it 100% effort that he was so loved for by the fans.
Still managed to score in one of the games, though I dont think it was ever going to feature in any Goal of the Month nominations.
