Good to see some alternative British interest apart from Andy Murray this time around. Just watching the Jack Draper game and the commentators are rating it as the game of the tournament so far. Also good to hear a nice strong regional accent (Stockport)from Liam Broady after his win today, aside from the usual middle class twangs.

Quite agree with you. Great to see the new guard coming on in both the women’s and men’s games. Much better to watch than a snarling Andy Murray.

Was more than happy with Murray going out.
Focus on the proper Brits now.

Big fan of Murray and was disappointed to see him knocked out so early but his performance suggests he still has a lot to give to the sport. Raducanu was quite simply outplayed and looking well short of her experienced opponent, a lot of room for improvement there. Was also gutted to see Serena exit at the first round, box office player.
Great to see some of the lesser names of British tennis progress though, fingers crossed one or two of them can make week two.

I like Murray too tbh, let's not forget where he came from and the trauma of Dunblane. He is also a great ambassador for British tennis along with the enormous amount he has donated to charity, not just financially, but his time too. He can come across as a bit of an enigma sometimes but his passion for the game cannot be denied. Alot of the positive attitude from the current crop is apparently down to them trying to emulate him in his approach to the game.

Glad Murray & Radacanu are out. I have been dreading the media hype over these two if they were to progress. It would have been near impossible to avoid them!

To be honest I thought Wimbledon had finished on Wednesday once "Emma" and "Andy" were knocked out of the competition.
With "Venus" and "Serena" losing in the first round, are there any sickly over-familiar first-namers left for the BBC to fawn over?
Well done by the way to Katie Boulter, one of my former neighbours.
And Cameron Norrie (full name) who is ploughing along nicely ahead of his third round game today.

I had to laugh when I saw that the “Scottish Bottler “ had been knocked out early doors .

We measure success at Wimbledon (without Andy) if we actually manage to get a Brit into the second week! Such is our dominance of the tournament

Without wishing to be in the least bit sexist my interest in tennis waned after Gabriella Sabbatini, Anna Kornikova and Maria Sharipova stopped playing. I don't think I'll be going to SW19 too soon either when I saw chicken chips and coleslaw (small) was £11 and a pint was £7.10. New balls please.

Sounds like your sources need a severe dressing down for feeding you inaccuracies (or selectively quoting you prices from the more expensive outlets). One can source an Atlantic Pale Ale in the grounds for £5.50, which isn’t cheap but is comparable to a public house. If you’re going full Martin Lewis on us, you’d also do well to maximise the allowance for taking your own alcohol into the grounds.

Unfortunately I expect the appallingly behaved Jelena Ostapenko will win that quarter of the draw, charging around SW19 in the belief she’s some kind of latter day Roy Keane.

Just two games of Ostapenko earlier this week and I turned to another court. I can't put up with that terrible grunting all the time (that includes men & women). Too many Brit knockers on here by the way. Nice to see quite a few Brits still in all formats.

Went along to Wimbledon on Thursday… to be honest yes it’s expensive, but on the same coin it also doesn’t feel like a rip-off either. They are fairly relaxed on food / drink allowances, so there is no real need to use the on site outlets if you don’t want to. Souvenirs are quite pricey in some cases, but of good quality and not much of a premium. Only stuff that’s mega bucks is the Ralph Lauren clothing line, but it’s to be expected from an aspirational brand. To be honest it all felt refreshing compared to going to football (atmosphere, cosy, stewarding). £90 to watch top line tennis all day felt like good value compared to £20-£25 to watch two teams in League 1 spend 90 minutes attempting to avoid losing.

I know the ball boys and girls have an important role, but why are they trained to behave like robots?

I know the ball boys and girls have an important role, but why are they trained to behave like robots? It’s pressure much answered by the brief for a ball boy / girl (BBG) “A good BBG should not be seen, they should blend into the background and get on with their jobs quietly” For Wimbledon they’re nominated from secondary schools in the region and the training / selection process is very tough and competitive.

Well done Britains Cameron Norrie through to the semi final after beating Goffin 3-2 to play Djokovic on Friday (who survived a scare from 2-0 down against Sinner)
It was a great game.

caught the end of it, fair play to him, Djokovic was lucky himself, or maybe great depending which way to look at it
I caught my cousin on tv earlier in the tournament making an appearance on the grass albeit now as a coach

I’m a bit confused. No one likes Andy Murray but everyone gets behind someone born in South Africa who grew up in NewZealand, and represented them until it suited him to be British

Scottish dad, welsh mum who emigrated to N Zealand after home was burgled when he was 3. His parents still live there. Cameron came back to Uk when he was 16 and apart from being at Texas University has continued to live in London. Can’t get a more Scottish name by the way….

If he or she is playing under GBR and are likeable people like Norrie and Radacanu I will get behind them.
