Sorry it wasn't very clear. Crawley will be taking our place to play Qatar SC according to a fan affiliated page who seem to have put 2+2 together. Oh dear, hope their fans are a bit more forgiving of their club playing a fairly meaningless friendly as a way of getting their team ready for the new season than a few Town fans are. Still we called off one against Tamworth last season without so much fuss. There were concerns that the local MP might turn up, get drunk and, you know, get a bit predatory.

Qatar SC must wonder what the ****s going on, they just want a kick about, and to them they probably think their laws are perfectly normal as they're used to them.

When they say "camp organisers" they are referring to those who arranged the trip, not some outdated LGBT term, I assume.
Qatar SC, aka "The Untouchables".

Just looking at travel arrangements for World Cup, which I fully intend to enjoy.
Shocking, decisive and virtue signalling at its worst by the club to cancel and bow down to the minority who shout the loudest..

It's a weird flex to have a whole country blacklist playing an opposition team on the basis of its geographical location while still thinking that we're the tolerant ones.

The only good thing about this thread.... much like how taking the knee has made it so much easier to identify the idiots who boo it.... we can see the dinosaurs in our midst much more clearly now....

Taking the knee is a total waste of time and virtue signalling at its best, as is cancelling this friendly kick about - both will achieve absolutely **** all for societal improvement , but as long as they make some folk think they are helping, doing their bit to drive change and improvement, and they can judge others from their ivory tower, whatever. The only good thing about this thread.... much like how taking the knee has made it so much easier to identify the idiots who boo it.... we can see the dinosaurs in our midst much more clearly now.... that's a cheap shot at those who don't share your opinion , although i don't agree with qatars laws and was the first on here to mention the world cup was a sham on the day it was announced , my only issue is why does a group that want to be treated equal feel the need to speak as a whole and alter everything with bright colours to clearly make themselves stand out , colours that all equal up to white and has no black in it , what if i think i am in that group , do i have to opt in to have a say ? just because i think a kick about between town and a team with different laws should go ahead thinking it may actually trigger something to see the light in qatar if nothing else , i mean why did we change sex laws over here , was it in an in house decision or were we influenced by seeing other countries lifestyles and laws how about 1966 england opponents and when homosexuality was legal in that country england and wales 1967 scotland 1981 n ireland 1992 uruguay 1934 mexico 1871 france 1791 argentina 1887 portugal 1983 germany 1969 what i accept is some countries and lagging behind others , we were way behind most

It’s quite a remarkable position when those who appear to have no discernable principals of their own demand nothing short of perfection from those who do.....
To paraphrase the late economist John Maynard Keynes: “When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do?”

Just been listening to the first Salopcast podcast for the season (recommend as always) and one of the chaps on there thought this was better option than attending a friendly game. I just can't get on board with that. I think I would much prefer to see a game. I think I'd feel a bit of a spare part at something like this.

Looks like we may see more of this in the future Supporters deserve a voice but I expect to see some clamping down on this sooner or later. Fines for clubs who unfulfill fixtures, friendlies or otherwise.

That's fine, however, if was Manchester City would they be kicking off?
Not much difference in the "Oil Men".

Who is doing the clamping down? Friendlies are organised and governed by the playing clubs

Friendlies are organised and governed by the playing clubs Correct. But should Mainz buckle under their fan pressure in the same way we did - to no fault of Newcastle's doing for whom I have little in the way of sympathy towards - it's not really fair in terms of preparation and letting a side down at short notice.
