Anyone going this week ? I've never been, never thought of going but would if given the chance. Just looked at the line up, Fat Boy Slim was good last time although does he just press play and mime ? easy work if you can get it lol. Eat Sleep, Eat repeat, well that's my version ;-) Shame no Florence this time any recommendations to look out for ?

'Press play and mime' sounds like SCs tactics last season...

Probably most looking forward to seeing Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, and Herbie Hancock. If you like things a bit rockier Foals are one of the best live bands around today. On a general note I am very pleased to see that four of the headline acts (Paul Mcartney, Herbie Hancock, Diana Ross and Robert Plant) are much older than I am!

I am off to the Why Not festival near Ashbourne in July, courtesy of a friend who is working there, decent line up for this, with a good mixture of headliners, oldies, and newbies.

Been twice.1990 & 94. Don't think I could handle the crowds now. The site is vast and I believe the attendance has doubled since I last went.i am going to sound like an old grump which is what I am .the festival seems to be full of music tourists who go because it's the thing to do and have no idea about any bands apart from the headliners. Good luck getting there this year with no trains. Highlights from my visits include the cure, nick cave, Elvis Costello and Attila the stockbroker . Anyway if you are going have a great time .

Did Reading Rock in'83. Great line up but didn't enjoy the 'facilities'!
Glastonbury links to CND meant I wouldn't entertain it. (For context - I served on Polaris submarines 🤔)

I keep saying I'll go one year, the only festival I've done was V(99) as a 17 year old, glad I've done it for the experience but if I were to ever do a festival now I'd certainly look to do it in a bit more style than basic camping. From what I can gather from some music pages I follow, the festival has lost some of it's appeal/charm, it used to be fairly political/left wing/hippyish but is now very mainstream, I guess the cost is a factor.
There are that many festivals nowadays though so plenty of choice, I was thinking of doing Bestival at Weston Park until I discovered it was £200

Just remembered my wife's band played there in 1985. An Alarm (from Penzance). That was the height of their fame but they were played on John peel.

With the train strike, Glasto will be manic to get too. Def not something I’d look forward too despite wanting to have experienced it at least once.

I went in and 1997 and 1998. Two of the mud years and both incredible experiences.
Saw part of the Radiohead set but also went to the Primal Scream set which clashed!
1997 other highlights were Prodigy, Smashing Pumpkins, Super Furry Animals, Beck, Ash, Bluetones, Ray Davies, and an absolute stack of other indie bands
1998 we saw Pulp, Blur, Foo Fighters, Bob Dylan, Embrace, James, Nick Cave, Placebo
An unbelievable place and would love to go back.

Managed to get a 4LP set of their 40th anniversary compilation sent from Germany. Not easy getting anything sent from the EU these days

BBC2 and iPlayer is excellent again this year. I'm actually finding some of the gigs difficult to find if you choose watch from the start, get there in the end though did laugh as the bbc just zoomed in on a pair of boobs during wonderwall
