Goes to Rochdale. That's a turn-up for the books. Definitely good enough for League One.

I wish him all the best - a very solid performer for us. Also surprised he has not stayed in League 1.

From the Rochdale website interview: “After speaking to the manager, his demeanour and the way he wanted to play all fitted in with what I want to do. He was a breath of fresh air." An implied criticism of Cotterill?

EEL is definitely bottom half of League One standard for me, but the fact he's dropped backs SCs judgement in releasing him.

Hopefully someone coming in to replace him soon.
If we are still talking about him come the winter then we havnt found a decent enough replacement.

I think things will start to speed up in a week or so, those players returning from holiday and facing the prospect of no wages after 30th June.

I believe he's spent most of his career at L1 level so for Rochdale in L2 he will be a good signing. Agree with a few comments that at this level he's ok but nothing special, I would imagine a few newly promoted clubs or someone like Cheltenham may have looked at him but other than that, not many teams would be in for him. Put him alongisde a ball playing centre half and it's a good combo, put him alongside another old fashioned stopper who's distribution is also poor then it can be a bit calamitous at times.

Yep never played in league two before. Presumed he would have been staying in league one or to a more free spending league two side at least. Still only 29 and has been fairly consistently in the town team over the last 3 years. I'd take Eoghan O'Connell if Rochdale fancy a swap

Especially with Vela gone, makes even more sense to have Leahy in midfield. Wasn't convinced SC would have gone with Vela - Shipley - Leahy in midfield but if town can get someone along the lines of Fornah think that makes more sense as a 3 alongside Leahy and Shipley.

I found it odd he was captain in the first place. I think two or three others would have been more suitable throughout the season. But heyho.

Was 2 good a player 2 release on a free. SC must have someone very good in mind to replace him, just hope the player In question doesnt actually turn us down for a better offer. He was decent enough for us at our level, even if he did have a few limitations. Hope we dont rue letting him go.

I'm pretty sure the same thing happened to Jake King many years ago, and far longer serving than Ebanks Landell.

I highly doubt that’s the reason. Do you think City would release Foden for speeding?

I highly doubt that’s the reason. Do you think City would release Foden for speeding? No because Foden's worth about £100m in todays money and integral to the future plans for the manager at that club. I'm not saying it was 'the' reason, but 'a' reason that may have been a contributing factor. You've also got to remember he was captain at the time as well so it doesn't reflect particularly well on the club or it's management.
