Shocking performance, another absolutely embarrassing performance which is on par with the Iceland game. We are a team going backwards it’s so obvious, they’ll stick with Southgate and see the World Cup through but I can’t see him surviving if we perform poorly in Qatar. We’ll probably stagger through the group and get knocked out in the last 16.

Hilarious! Amazing how you only ever show up to gloat. But you hide away for a month when we are all gloating about your teams performance when they lose 3 of the most important games at the end of a season.

Total shambles!!! Does not bode well for World Cup, I suppose I won’t need to worry about tickets for the semi final now!!
We are obviously going to stick with Southgate but my god since the Euros we have gone backwards and not progressed in the slightest….shocking!!

Hilarious how England have been marketed as the Three Lions......and not forgetting the Lionesses!
It's all set up for Wales to send you home early from Qatar. I can't wait!
It's not coming home.

Lost to the only good teams we played at the World Cup in 2018.
Went 1-0 up at home against Italy and then failed to attack once.
Turning one of the most exciting squads in the world into an absolute bore fest with 1 goal in their last three games. Just lost 4-0 at home to Hungary.
Bang average manager, thanks for the memories. Imagine how entertaining this team would be under Bielsa. One can dream.

Genuine question - does anyone actually honestly give a stuff about this meaningless competition?
I mean it's like a nations level Papa John's trophy and being played when players actually want a few weeks rest before another long season kicks off early.
Hopefully we are just treating it as it deserves to be treated, ie meaningless.

There’s more chance of Shamima Begum coming home than England winning a major trophy

Haven't stopped laughing yet 🤣🤣🤣
Southgate spends a lot of time lecturing people that apparently need "educating".
Well that was a lesson for you tonight eh Gaz.
Time to go.

Horrific evening. Total waste of time going Same, but I do hope they all enjoy their trips to dubai tomorrow and completely forget about it. Interesting for those Southgate fans saying its just been a bad run. Can they hand on heart say Gareth Southgate will win England a world Cup. If the answer is no and for me it hasn't been since we were dismantled by Croatia, then he shouldn't be in post.

I actually like the format, It give all sides a chance to compete, and relegation would be a huge wake up call for England.
or maybe we could scrap this competition as return to some Friendlies instead without the slightest hint of competitiveness involved and see 22 subs made at half time .

Agree with this, I think the problem is the timing, at the end of the season and when we would normally be starting the world Cup, it feels like it's been shoehorned in. The first season where the finals place in the summer of 2019 seemed a better fit. I know a lot of people say these are meaningless friendlies so shouldn't get carried away but Southgate was getting the plaudits from it when we finished 3rd in 2019 so should get criticism when we are doing so poorly as we are now.

Only seen the highlights but starting to like the look of this winter World Cup. As I think if it were to have gone ahead as it normally does, it would have started yesterday. Harry Kane's dive seemed to sum things up nicely when it came to England's performance, laughable. I was quite taken aback by the feelings towards Southgate from one or two in Munich the other week. Despite everything that has happened with the semi-final appearances he clearly hasn't convinced everyone. But then I suppose when you come up short as we did against Italy questions will be asked (I think one or two do feel its 'despite of' rather than 'because of' that we did well). Always did think he was an appointment driven by Allardyce's sacking more than anything else. The FA just wanted someone who wasn't going to find themselves on the front page of any newspaper any time soon and in that regard, who better.

Genuine question - does anyone actually honestly give a stuff about this meaningless competition? No. I think the concern at the minute is the performances and the lack of goals but in the great scheme of things I understand this competition was introduced to give some structure and competition to international friendlies. So the term I'd use if glorified friendlies but friendlies nonetheless. I guess its a bit like the Autoglass (or whatever its called now). Nice to win it if it comes about but no loss at all if you don't.

Ah but, apparently if England finish badly in the final table, then they will NOT be seeded for the next round of European Championship Qualifying, so it has some importance.

Harry Kane's dive seemed to sum things up nicely when it came to England's performance, laughable. He's lucky that we lost 4-0 and people will be focusing on the result/Southgate because that was an embarrassment Regarding Southgate, lets be honest that there are some fans who don't like him because of him being PC, woke or whatever you want to call him, I don't know how many but there clearly are. But the vast majority of people who are turning against him are doing so simply based on results (even in 'meaningless' games). I've said it many times over the years but people will tolerate dull football as long as it brings results, but dull football, struggling to score and then losing, well it's not a good combination is it? I'm not his biggest fan but I'm certainly not in the 'he must go' camp and I didn't like hearing some of the stuff being sung last night, he doesn't deserve that. But equally I disagree with people/pundits who shout down any criticism of him because of what happened last summer and in 2018. Do people really expect us not to complain when we've just lost 4-0 at home to Hungary?

Do people really expect us not to complain when we've just lost 4-0 at home to Hungary? I think he has earned the right to lead us at the World Cup based on the last two major competitions, absolutely. But I have my doubts. All very good getting to a semi-final and a final but I do wonder whether better led, we could have seen (at least) the one out. For me that Italy game is a reminder that all said and done, as a manager Southgate has won (checks notes) the Toulon Tournament with the England under 21s back in 2016. And for sure they are going to get a roasting from the fans for a performance and result like that. Perhaps more so in the shires when you have fans who may have been waiting for the chance to see an England side play only to be served up with that.

One thing that did make me laugh from last night, we are 3-0 down and we bring off Saka to be replaced by Maguire, let's shut up shop as we are down to ten men.....only to concede another goal a few minutes later
