Blimey, will we have enough to make up a full bench (without naming 2 goalies) ?

Surely they'll now have to allow increased squad sizes in League 1, which at present stands at 20.
Starting 11 plus 7 subs = 18 players. So we'd only need 2 out with injury or suspension, and we'd either not be able to fill the bench, or would have to supplement it with youth team players (or 3 goalkeepers!)

Jesus Christ, how many more do we need. Why not just be able to name the full first team squad, the youth team, all the coaches and kit man, tea lady and turnstile operators as well.
3 was 1 too many.

They just can't leave the game alone.

They just can't leave the game alone. That has to be my biggest criticism. Just tinker with the rules for no gain. Football is a simple game, just leave it as it is ffs.

Just as clubs should be looking to keep costs down, in these times of extra costs for fans.
Will mean even more stoppages, stop-start second halves and time wasting. How to ruin the game.

Still only three stoppages allowed for substitutions. 5 substitutes out of 7 named can be used. Clubs can make substitutions at half time and on three other occasions during a league match.

Will have to build a longer bench!!! Other clubs might have to, but probably not us. Not quite sure how SC will take with this one, we couldnt fill the bench at times last season.

At the very least it should be worth putting a couple of the Youth Team on the Bench, just to give them match experience (even though they'll never get on). The other 5 should be more than enough for SC.

They just can't leave the game alone. Game has always changed. Not every year, but regularly

Though we could improve on the suspension fronts with Davis and Vela no longer with us 🙂

More stoppages, more clubs obliged to hire more players and most of all...even more uneven...the wealthier clubs will basically have two first teams.

We both know that particularly in the closing stages of games, substitutions are not made for reasons of injury, merely to interrupt play.

Stronger the bench the more chance of winning by making changes. Surely benefits the bigger clubs.

Potentially 10 of the 22 players on the pitch at end of any given match didn't start the game.
It'll make many games resemble an England friendly in the days of Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Completely unpalatable in my opinion but "progress" eh?
