Live on Channel 4 tonight, KO 7:45pm
I reckon it's going to be a tough/close game especially after that shocker at the weekend.

Unless England improve markedly on the anaemic display in Budapest, I don't envisage it being close at all....

Can't abide this England team with Southgate in charge.
Obviously will put my differences aside to support them in the World Cup they shouldn't be going to, but until then I hope he gets exposed for being the hopeless manager he is for the 1% chance he gets the boot between now and November.
Wouldn't at all be upset if we get smashed like Pilch suggests.

7 England fans already arrested in Munich. That was totally unacceptable performance on Saturday, I don’t feel to hopeful for this world cup as I did with the Euro’s and it’s been totally undervalued as brown envelopes have been exchanged meaning it’s in the winter and the hosts are totally unfit for purpose. I really am struggling to gather the enthusiasm but will be watching no doubt.

England need a massive improvment ,the players also need to show some pride and passion for wearing the england shirt if we dont then this will just be another groundhog day .

Obviously, 7 is 7 too many, but when a few thousand mainly men get together and have a few bevies, its hardly a national disgrace is it.....almost sounds like a Daily Mail headline.....

I accept that England are a tad predictable and one-dimensional, but the record under Gareth Southgate isn't too bad!

As always I'll be watching but I wish Southgate would get the team to play with a bit more ambition and excitement.
This 5-2-3 that he's so enamoured doesn't half produce some dull games.

I've been critical of him as I feel that he's holding back some of the more talented attacking players, however we have progressed under him, are difficult to beat and had we converted the penalties last summer then no one would be complaining how it was done and instead he would go down in folklore. My main frustration is he's not brave enough, even on Saturday, 1 nil down away to Hungary with 10 mins to go and he brings off a centre half for a defensive midfielder. And when you consider some of the attacking players we have, we generally are a dull side to watch

If Southgate is a hopeless manager I wont bother to ask what you think of the multitude of managers we have had going back to the mid 70s when Ramsey was replaced.

It's just glorified friendlies mainly for the money it generates. At Olympic levels our cyclists who have a chance of glory at the very top use the World Championships in between as relatively insignificant training. Top level footballers should be treating this tournament in a similar fashion.

I know what you are saying and to be honest it probably feels like 12 months ago as I'm saying the same as then, I know he's done a decent job and it seems irrational to criticise him as he got so close to doing what only one other England manager has done. There's just something about him/his style of football that I can't take to and I feel that this group of players could take it up another level, if they were allowed to. Agree on your comments about this tournament, it was UEFA/FIFA's attempt to make friendlies interesting!

Short term memories have already resurrected themselves from last season. Southgate's record is exceptional with this England squad one of the best we have had for years, and the loss on Saturday was the first in many games, albeit a lack lustre performance. Since when was playing attractive football a prerequisite for any manager these days, it is all based around the possession game for almost every country, and it is never going to be riveting. I suppose the usual suspects on here never like any positivity and will always look for the negatives in most things, even the team they supposedly "support". But I expect nothing less tbh and they will revel in a loss to the Germans, which is unusual at best, just to massage their ego to say "I told you so", happens most Saturday evenings from August to May. Good luck England.

Tournament football is often pretty dull, especially in the group stage and Southgate identified a way for England to progress deep into the last two big tournaments. I am not sure England have that much world-class attacking talent at the moment. In terms of international football Kane and Sterling are proven high-class performers but the likes of Foden and Grealish (very talented as they both obviously are) have yet to prove themselves consistently. I agree the players do need a rest at the moment but most nations are still playing and tonight's game could well highlight how good some of the fringe players are.

If I was a big club I wouldn’t take a chance on Phillips with his injury record.
We’ve had chances, much better than against Hungary.

Based on win% then Fabio Capello comes out on top :-
1. Fabio Capello 67.7%
2. Gareth Southgate 64.8%
3. Alf Ramsey 61.1%
4. Glen Hoddle 60.7%
5. Ron Greenwood 60..0%
Sam Allardyce ommitted from the above!!

Southgate has managed 2nd 3rd and 4th for us so far my view if England managers are a bit like prime ministers, all the same, crap to watch, does just another, loses when it matters Southgate seems to do a half decent job as far as the discipline goes which is half the battle these days there was a blip with Greenwood and foden, maybe castration would have helped one of them at the time
