I hope that no-one needs to change any details on their Drivers Licence, or indeed apply for any other service provided by this organisation.
I tried five times to make an amendment to my licence and after filling out all the online forms, received a message that they were unable to retrieve my records at the present time and to try again....it didn't say when.
I tried calling by phone and received a recorded message stating that I was not even in a queue and that they were unable to receive any calls at the present time 'due to high demand'. The online 'chat' service is similarly unavailable for the same reason.
It would seem that large numbers of the DVLA workforce are effectively on strike while receiving full pay. Isn't it time they were all fired?

There does seem to be more and more firms and businesses that seem to be totally uncontactable to actually speak to.
Not surprisingly they also seem to be the most incompetent to deal with.
Had a shambles on our airport transfer a few weeks ago, they have taken our money but had no record of an order (we had to pay for a taxi to get to resort, as it was late at night). They have agreed to pay compensation, they say they have paid it but we havnt received anything. Of course you cant actually speak to anyone, and they are ignoring emails. So anyone going to Spain avoid booking with ResortHoppa. You've only got to look at their reviews to see we are far from alone with our complaint.

Going to do the unthinkable here and compliment our MP, I saw it mentioned that you can contact your MP to speed up your license application, may have been a coincidence but I did get a reply from them saying they would chase it up and it arrived in the post a week later, 4 week wait for a license renewal when most people were saying they'd been waiting 10 or so.

Applied for my Daughters Provisional licence and was all done and confirmed on-line in less than 20 minutes. I also transferred a personal number plate during covid with DVLA and that also was done swiftly. I am a lucky chap

Had problems and delays here too, I finished my application for renewal on 17th of November last year. Did not receive my license until February so about 3 months it took for me. Reading stuff online at the time there was like 600,000 unopened letters at the DVLA that are yet to be processed. Can’t actually speak to people on the phone etc.

We waited ages when my husband needed his done but he did have to have an eye field test and we were in covid.
When mine came up for renewal, I had the same message when trying to do it the ‘easy’ way on line so off we went to our local Post Office who sorted it all there and then and it was returned from DVLA it was ten days which I didn’t think was too bad. This was in March/April.

what a lot of people are having lengthy delays is when the have a medical condition and renew there licence more frequently , they send the consultants letter and other supportive information and get a temporary exemption as the DVLA are so slow as you can imagine the delays and uncertanty and very slow responces all cause stress.

My Granson passed his test last Monday (first time 😃) they take you provisional off you (so it can’t be used fraudulently) and give you a pass certificate. He received his full license on Friday the same week!

My dad applied for a new licence in October. Change from NI to GB and change of address. They cashed the cheque in in November...
Still waiting!
Hard to get hold of too. Eventually got through and its because it has to goto a doctor to sign on medical condition or something.

Had to renew my licence last month and was impressed with how quick and simple it was once I’d figured out how to upload a new photo!

Got my new licence the following Monday!! As others have said a bit hit and miss!! pretty much the same for me , also this time last year I bought a 2nd hand car, the only problem they had a private plate on it and I insisted they change it first ( for their sake more than mine ), I looked it up and 4-6 weeks was the norm which isn't good when you need a car, but it literally took a few days I did have a nightmare many years ago after being caught speeding and needing to get a plastic card which I didn't have , it kept coming back with problems with it , not signed fully in the box, photo incorrect, curtains in the photo ( at a damn booth ) and eventually the police took me to court, nothing extra became of it after I explained the situation hit and miss as someone said

Talking about DVLA, I’ve noticed 3 clamped cars with DVLA clamp on in last few days. Presumably police are checking for untaxed cars. Good to see if true.

When I reached the age of 70 I had to apply for a new licence but as I had sight problems I needed to take an eye test . DVLA paid for this which was undertaken at Specsavers . Had to look into this screen and press a button every time I saw a “ flash “. I think it isn’t the case of how many times you fail to notice the “ flash “ but whether or not your failures are grouped together identifying a blind spot in your field of vision. Anyhow , this is besides the point . I understood that until DVLA had considered the result of my test and passed me as safe to drive I was not to get behind the wheel. Does anyone know whether this still holds or because of delays people are allowed some sort of dispensation. My next review is in 2023 so hopefully things will have settled down by then, fingers crossed.

I bet they are most efficient at selling your information to those parking companies who request it.
