LIV Golf is probably the biggest shake up in the Golfing world for decades. Dustin Johnson resigns from PGA Tour to play LIV Golf
"Johnson, 37, joined the PGA Tour in 2007 and has won $74m in his career." "I don't want to play for the rest of my life, this gives me an opportunity to do what I want to do," he said. In quitting the PGA Tour, the 2020 Masters champion - who is reportedly receiving $150m in appearance fees to play in the series - is giving up his opportunity to feature in the Ryder Cup." Wow $150m from just 8 Events?!

I question just how much more an individual who's already won £75m needs to take care of their family but each to their own. I was actually ok with this until Norman tried to defend the Khashoggi killing by claiming 'we all make mistakes'. Crass, misjudged and downright disgraceful.
So, not for me.

Graeme McDowell defends signing up for LIV Golf Series
Some interesting comments in that interview.

It comes as little surprise that golfers embrace Saudi sportswashing. After all, this is a sport in which success is measured by the amount of prize money won.
McDowell's attempted justification that, while state sponsored murder is bad, "we're not politicians" is particularly sick. Is it only politicians who should be expected to take a moral stance? We're well and truly *****d if so.
I prefer the naked greed of Dustin Johnson's justification to the hypocrisy of McDowell.

DJ's total earning's to date $75m since 2007, in 8 events he will earn from just appearing $150m?! Going to be interesting to see what the viewing figures are going to be?

As does football, as does boxing, as does F1. So what? I'm well aware that sportswashing isn't unique to golf, but do they have a ranking list literally based on money? Like this: www.cbssports.com/golf/rankings/money-list/It's just an empty money show, there's no prestige attached to it - come last and get $150,000. How fitting that the series ends at a Trump golf course.

The PGA has acted... The PGA Tour has suspended all of its members who are playing in this week's Saudi-funded LIV Golf Invitational. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/golf/61746560

Lee Westwood was another one who was angry at the super league saying it was all about the money but then feels free to sign up to this. Hypocrite of the highest order.

As someone with a entry level (if that) knowledge of golf can someone enlighten me of the following;
What hold exactly does the PGA have over it's players? Is there a central contract or is it merely an association which players can join (and therefore leave) at their own will?
I would imagine if the PGA offered prize money anywhere near that of the Saudi's then I don't suppose this tournament would be anywhere near as tempting as it is.
Unless you're in an extreme position of privilege, who would turn down potentially lucrative revenue streams of the sums of money quoted when you may not have to work another day/play another tournament in your life?
And on the issue of 'sportswashing', people really need to get their head out of the sand.
It's been rife in football for over 20 years now and people are only just catching on.
