Walsall taken over by US investment firm:
"League Two side Walsall have been bought by Trivela Group, an American investment firm based in Alabama.
The sale of the club has been in negotiations with the firm for around a year, with 51 per cent of the club's shares sold and additional money put into the club to fund "strategic investments".
The club has also announced Trivela plans to buy another 25 per cent of its shares within the next two years, which will allow it to repurchase the freehold of their Bescot Stadium from former owner Jeff Bonser."

Just signed Peter Clarke, 40 years of age. A significant downgrade on Sadler in my view.

Just signed Peter Clarke, 40 years of age. A significant downgrade on Sadler in my view. Peter Clarke is a strange one, Tranmere offered him a player-coach role, with more emphasis on the coaching. Walsall offered him a playing contract, Clarke took the Walsall offer !. Having said that he was in the L2 team of the season so he obviously believes he can still perform even at 40. See that Tranmere have also offered Joe Murphy a new contract, also at 40 years of age, Tranmere forum are happy and hope he will still be their first choice next season

Peter Clarke played in the Everton side we knocked out of the cup in 2003 didn't he?
Can't be many players of that vintage still going.

I am always very concerned about another faceless consortium.
At least at Wrexham they have named people with a personal interest.
I do hope Salop keep it named and local in the future.

biscuit tin is in a prime location and has a lot of potential with advertising etc. If I was a Walsall fan I wouldn't be cracking out the white lighting just yet.
