This is sad news - Town’s No 9 - everything a centre forward should be! Rest in Peace Frank

Before my time of watching Town but I read enough about him to know that he had a good career with Town before going onto (I think) QPR and Carlisle who he also had good careers with. And of course part of the famous Clarke brothers who also included Wayne who was a decent player for us too towards the end of his own career.
Sad news.

Very sad to hear of Franks passing . He was a fine player for us , to my mind a true Town legend . I always remember Ian Ure kicking lumps out of Frank when Town played Arsenal at home in the Cup. If memory serves Peter Dolby got an equaliser in a 1-1 draw to get us a replay at Highbury which we lost. Marvellous memories of Frank scoring goals for us. Without looking it up I think he played for Carlisle in the First Division . They only lasted a season unfortunately but what an achievement RIP Frank.

Very sad to hear this .The first Town centre-forward I remember as a boy - a really good all-round leader of the line with a speciality in spectacular goals from diving headers.

Pretty sure he did play for Carlisle in their season in Div 1. Also looking at his time at QPR he would have played in Div 1 for then in 68/9 when they were up there for just 1 year. Between QPR and Carlisle he played for Ipswich (I'd forgotten about that one) and they were 1st div. at that time too.

I remember him playing alongside Arthur Rowley. As many have said a true legend.

A true town legend from the days when players lived in the town and formed great relationships with supporters. Stayed in the town when his career ended like so many from his day. A proper old fashioned centre forward. Great memories. RIP.

Frank was a real footballer, relied on ability, timing and been aware of space in congested penalty area’s. Came from a family of quality players, did himself and Town proud over several seasons. I have many happy memories of him, another Town legend gone! R.I.P Frank and thanks………

Sad news. A very young Frank provides one of my favourite town memories. He scored a hat trick against Bristol City (I think) in 7-2 win. Harry Middleton also scored three. Strange game they had all the ball but we seemed to score every time we attacked. RIP Frank, you provided my generation with many happy memories.

Just spotted this sad news... another loss to Shrewsbury Town F.C. I got to know him as a person in the days when I drank at the Abbey - always happy to chat! RIP, Frank, and thanks for the memories.
