www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-61407079Bangor City: The pop star, the football club and the Mafia link "The pop star who ruined a 145-year-old football club A seemingly rich new owner steps in to buy a city's struggling football club, promising to bring back its glory days. Staff were overjoyed when their new wannabe YouTube pop star owner signed foreign professional players on big wages, compared to other teams in the league. Their club was at the heart of the community and had once played Atletico Madrid and Napoli in Europe, but had fallen on hard times and had dropped out of Wales' top league. After the takeover, some fans dared to hope their once-proud footballing days would return. At first, their new Italian owner seemed like the "great saviour" - but the dream at Bangor City turned into a nightmare. Within three years, one of the UK's oldest football clubs has ceased playing football, is tens of thousands of pounds in debt and its future is bleak."

Bangor City were a great club in the 1960s. I think Town were interested in some of their players. I seem to recall a goalscorer with a surname something like Conde (probably got that wrong) that Town were interested in.

Hmmm..little bit of "artistic licence"being used by BBC Wales to make the story to create the programme Bangor 1876 was formed in 2019 by the supporters because of the a activities of Bangor City owners Vaughan Sports Management)...Yep those ex Chester Vaughans not this You Tube guy.p
Bangor had already been expelled from the Welsh PL in 2018 because of financial irregularities,to do with the Vaughans, and in May 2019 were docked a further 42 points from their Cymru Alliance total for even more financial irregularities, although they won their appeal.
Serafino bought the Vaughans out in September 2019
Just seems that some clubs cannot catch a break !!!

Yep that's so true.1876 were up and running, and on their way to a league title,by the time this guy had taken over Bangor City
Just seems, from what I've read, that BBC Wales have erased the Vaughan's from the story. Have to wait and see when the documentary is screened

Bangor City have a long history of lavish spending followed by the begging bowl and repeat. Way,way before 2016, not even this century.

I always thought TNS were an English club playing in the Welsh football pyramid, the opposite to yourselves. Could be wrong but I always thought they were an English club. TNS are a Welsh club. They took over Llansantfraidd FC in the 1990's and changed the name to Total Network Solutions. The ground was not up to Welsh League standards and they soon moved to Oswestry. Llansantfraidd FC were members of the Welsh FA and based (obviously) in Wales. The problem of TNS moving to England but wishing to play in Wales was solved by taking over Oswestry Town FC who were longstanding members of the Welsh FA. Although defunct for many years, club officials wisely paid their annual affiliation fees to retain membership. TNS (Total Network Solutions) changed their name again to The New Saints of Oswestry Town and Llansantfraidd FC. (again TNS). The 'Sant' bit of Llansantfraidd means Saint so names and initials have worked perfectly for Mr Harris.

The Church of Saint Bride !!
Used to enjoy going to their old ground in the middle of the village. Particularly liked the old rickety stand on the half way line with seating at the front and a bit of standing at the back.
