I know SC mentioned bit s and pieces at the awards but does anyone have any idea when the lads are back in etc?
Looking at the calendar 27th June looks likely but could be before that maybe given the season starts earlier this year??? I know a trip abroad is earmarked???

Hopefully will have a few more signed on before then.

It's normally the start of July isn't it? In which probably a week before that given the season kicks off a week earlier this year.
Only a month until the fixtures are released.

When he signed it was stated Jordon Shipey would not join us until June 10th. Would imagine anyone in then will just get a weigh in, diet plan and fitness check?

That's when transfer window opens, so not allowed to do anything with the club until then. Not sure how much you are allowed to do to be honest, but will be pretty minimal. And for those signing from being out of contract it will be 1 July. So I think pre season usually starts around this time

I think teams usually return to training around five weeks before the first league game? So with the first league game next season scheduled for July 30th I’d expect the squad to be back at Sundorne Castle by the last week of June.

SC said the trip to Spain would be 2 - 9th July, with friendlies here after that. Telford Away on 12th, Cardiff Home 19th. I imagine they would be in for at least a few days before going to Spain

With the season starting so early the last week in June would seem about as late as you would expect.
To think some clubs who will be in the FL still havnt finished last season as yet. This weekend for Championshio and L2 clubs, another couple of weeks for who gets the second promotion place from the National. Not very long for holidays before they all start once again.

Anyone else quite enjoying the break? I can’t even be bothered to watch the England games. Complete nonsense which I can’t imagine the players are even bothered about.

I’m certainly enjoying the break.
It will all be whatever the club makes of it and nothing I do can alter it.

If you look at the BBC Sport transfer news, there's only a couple of transfers happening on a daily basis.
One of which yesterday was Aaron Wildig to Newport - I'm sure someone potentially mooted that transfer for us.
I'm not worried just yet but I expect us to leave it right until the end of August before we do the bulk of our business.

Yeah no disappointments on a Saturday night after a dismal display and me wanting to kick the cat in anger I think alot of teams return the 27th. Seems about right given the season starts a week earlier too. I think the summer downtime for players has certainly changed a lot since the 90's etc. No need now to run up hills for a week to shed a stone put on in the summer. They look after themselves during the break.

He has done well at Morecambe for a few years and is going to Newport. So all at L2 level apart from one season struggling at L1 this season. That is obviously his level, we need better.

I'm more concerned that we have players in and playing to our formations during pre season games and ready to go at game No1. To leave it till end of August to get things organised you can virtually kiss goodbye to and chance of the automatic promotion places while you tinker around and get things running right. The best you can hope for is play offs.

Any signs of the new Kit?
Will there be anything to buy on the Club open day - or is that not happening this year?

Any sign of those half and half scarves that Belfastshrew was generously pitching in the Scunny thread last year? Unless tbf, my prediction that they'd "fly off the shelves" was correct and I've already missed out.

I've seen on Facebook that someone contacted Brian Caldwell and he had confirmed that the Coventry game in Spain has been cancelled and they were looking for a replacement fixture.
Given that a pre-season tour in Spain had piqued the interest of some to coincide with a summer holiday, why does everything we do have to be clouded by secrecy/uncertainty?
Other clubs openly invite their fans on pre-season tours abroad and done correctly the club could make some money offering a package deal for those interested but once again it feels like we couldn't organise a get together in a brewery

It's so odd. From someone I know who attended the end of season awards, Cotterill announced the pre-season tour as well as the Cardiff fixture and it was never implied that it was behind close doors or something they were keeping a lid on. I'd understand if the club just wanted to go out there and do some warm weather training undisturbed but they've seemingly dangled the carrot and literally with a couple of weeks to go haven't made any of the plans public since.

It’s got the feel of another farcical pre-season with zero lessons learned. Supporters won’t be so forgiving a second time round if the season starts as disastrously as last years.
News on the tour? Nothing. News on the new kit? Nothing. Signings? None in a month. Interviews with manager, chief exec or chairman? You must be joking.

Consistently poor appointments to sit below him. Brian is failing us, and it's all on the chairman's watch. Ultimately the buck stops with the chairman who is long past his sell by date. I respect what he did, but I certainly don't respect what he's doing.

Thought I'd do a bit of a quick straw poll to see where other clubs are with regards to their pre-season itineraries.
In terms of the number of confirmed pre-season games as of today;
Port Vale 2 MK Dons 2 Cheltenham 6 Charlton 4 Lincoln 6 (or 9 if you include XI - mostly against local sides) Fleetwood 2 Bolton 5 (or 9 including XI)
Please don't ask me to find out how many of these clubs have managed to announce and/or selling their new shirts though.
