Absolutely disgraceful from this thug. Attacking a member of the opposition’s squad in a blind attack. Could have done some serious damage.
Hopefully Sharp is ok.
Time for pitch invasions to be banned per se.

Yeah, its pretty nasty. I mean we have seen players having to deal with fans coming onto the pitch before but this is altogether something else. Just hope they are able to identify and arrest the fan. And to think Sharp is a former Forest player too.

No-one likes a bad loser, but we can all understand it to some degree. Bad winners are just something else. Surely people should be celebrating the win, not doing whatever this idiot was doing.
Hopefully Sharp is ok and the thug gets his comeuppance

Name him, shame him, ban him from all football games, fine him and then put him in the nick.

Said it for years, it’s only a matter of time before a player gets stabbed on the field during a pitch invasion. These events happen every season. I don’t know what the solution is but pitch invasions must be banned.
I’ll never forget for some bizarre reason we invaded the pitch after beating Lincoln on penalties in the Carabao Cup earlier this season. Embarrassing.

Police have arrested a 31yr old for the attack on Billy Sharp. Forest have already said he will be banned from the City Ground for life which is the minimum he should get. Should be a lifetime ban from all football grounds and also a custodial sentence. This attack could have done so real serious damage.

From the video if they’ve got the right fan he’ll get a lifetime banning order surely… Too much hatred in football, starts off as banter / rivalry and ends up with fans hating fans of other clubs…. Liverpool, MK Dons even Wycombe now. Then some Neanderthal takes it too far.

That is a shocking video. Man has been arrested, so no doubt will face charges and get banned. With all the chat on banning pitch invasions though, this was one incident among thousands of people. Most enjoyed celebrating with the players and celebrating a great achievement. We shouldn’t allow one idiot to ruin in for the majority.

Should be banned from every ground for life and a minimum of 5 years inside.

A Leicester fan got 4 months inside for attacking the Forest players, I expect this bloke will be getting longer based on the force of the attack and injuries suffered.
It just genuinely amazes me that you've just seen your team win an important game and the first thing you do is that.

Absolute cowardice.
If that happened on the street, that would likely be an ABH charge and prison stint.
Imagine being a middle aged bloke so consumed with anger and/or excitement that the first thing you think of doing when your team reaches Wembley is attacking an opposition footballer.
I was rooting for Forest to get out of the Championship but given they've got form for this sort of thing this season, I'm going to back Huddersfield.

Pitch invasion are banned, your talking as if they’re part of football…. As you say it only takes one idiot but unfortunately you can’t just allow the nice fans on…..wasn’t there a similar (but less serious) incident at the Notts Forrest Derby game?

They’re impossible to ‘ban’ unless you have 3 stewards/police to every fan which isn’t plausible. As others mentioned there’s a fine line between banter & going too far and unfortunately some can’t deal with it. You only have to look at this board to see some people can give out ‘banter’ but can’t take it!!!

There is evidence from an incident in our past during a pitch invasion (Grismby PO) which led to long banning orders and a court case. I suspect this bloke now identified will face similar punishment

Should be banned from every ground for life and a minimum of 5 years inside. Totally agree. The assault was appalling. I'd go a step further and issue a three point deduction for this sort of behaviour. Might make the moronic fan element think twice if they knew that they would earn the club a points deduction.

Disagree, away fans can just go in the home end and cause chaos for points deductions. Forest are doing everything they can.

By all means allow fans on to the pitch for presentations of trophies etc but only after all players have left the pitch. I will admit to a serious dislike of MK Dons and Wycombe but hate is far too strong a word.

As if Billy Sharp hasn't had enough to deal with over the years with the way he was treated on social media by some idiots after the loss of his child.
Hope it's jail time for whichever piece of s**t did that.

Maybe that's what its going to take to stop pitch invasions like what we saw against Wigan? Maybe a scaled approach; 1 point first offence and a fine? 2 points second offence and close a section in ground etc?

You can't penalise a club that is doing everything possible to assist with the investigation. One nutter doesn't account for the entire Forest support.

I've looked at this twice now and the force his head went into Billy Sharp's face was 'horrific'. It could have caused a serious fracture or even brain damage. I hope this isn't the case and that the player only has superficial injuries. Very, very serious assault & hopefully the police and courts will throw the book at him, which hopefully deters morons like him from doing likewise.

A thug is a thug in any situation. Step up policing or fences to stop pitch invasions and said thug will be waiting to stone the team coach as it leaves.

You only have to look at this board to see some people can give out ‘banter’ but can’t take it!!! I agree with what you say but I think most of us are old enough to remember there used to be a very effective method of preventing pitch invasions - fenced in crowds. Post-Hillsborough they were removed, thankfully, but with all-seat/safe standing stadia it would be quite easy to reintroduce them if the problem was considered serious enough. Nobody wants that, which is why every violent or intimidatory act by any spectator on the pitch needs to be punished to the max.
