Well, to think this thread on Wrexham very nearly made it to page 2. Then along come a couple of Wrexham wannabes with the kiss of life. Thanks for the publicity anyway. While I’m here - cringe? Yes. Tinpot? Absolutely not. This is going to be massive. I love reading Chester fans etc taking the p**s out of us, it’s a sure sign they’re envious and worried about where this could lead. Otherwise, why give it the time of day? 11 years ago today - we as fans raised £140,000 in 24 hours so Wrexham could survive as a football club. Watch the upcoming production for the full story. Thanks as always for your support and publicity 👍 "This is going to be massive". Stop it, you are starting to sound like HIM. You will be sipping drinks on the terrace, glass in hand. And dancing on the tables in Weatherspoons next. Just wait and see if you can get past bottling your season three weekends out of three again come the end of the season. And even if you do you will still only have got back your first foot on the FL ladder - IF.

You need to get over your bias and start seeing this objectively. It really is ok to say something positive about another football club. Is it? Go on then, Doc, say some fing nice about massive, massive Shrewsbury.

But this thread isn’t about Shrewsbury.

Saying that, I do have loads of respect for Shrewsbury as a club and the way it’s run. I get on well with my STFC-supporting colleagues in work and we attend each other’s games at least once a season. As has been said earlier in the thread, they can’t watch a Wrexham game this season because they won’t be able to get their hands on a ticket. I’ll still attend one of your games.

But this thread isn’t about Shrewsbury. How about something along the lines of "Well done Shrewsbury, a fairly lucrative tie with Burnley in the next round of the League cup. Stockport got Leicester, Grimsby Notts Forest. Had things been just a little different that could have been us, maybe one day......"

It would be nice to play those kind of games once again and hopefully soon. I try not to dwell too much on the ‘if things had been different’ line because that gets me thinking about scumbags like Mark Gutterman, Alex Hamilton and Geoff Moss. Scumbags who did their absolute utmost to destroy the club and make themselves a few quid in the process, but here we are about to hit the US and beyond. I dream about a trip to Barrow, but rightly or wrongly R&R are dreaming bigger. Who knows what the future looks like, but even without a game in the EFL Cup, it’s exciting times for Wrexham.

Not obsessed though. That was probably my fault, aided and abetted by Mr Grizzly. You should be flattered, but not too much - we mention Telford, Stoke, Man U and Liverpool often too. Suppose it's 'cos it's a football forum and Wrexham just squeeze into that category as the novelty act.

If you read through all the posts on the Wrexham thread the strange thing is that football is hardly ever mentioned. Anyone checking in for the first time would struggle to know what the thread was all about. Its all about off field events and its owners. It would be great to have some banter one day about the game of football. Having said that the Grimsby game in the play offs was pure comedy gold and non league football at its very best. More of that this season please.

Fair point. We’ve started the season with a win and Shrewsbury haven’t scored yet.

Fair point. We’ve started the season with a win and Shrewsbury haven’t scored yet. Not sure that’s what wakeman meant. Don’t mind admitting whilst enjoying Wrexhams time in the wilderness I’m also enjoying the revolution happening over the border and looking forward to some real rivalry back at games rather than on here. Id go as far as to say you now my non league team after Stockport promotion 👍

Sorry Martin, referring to the league/non-league. In desperation you’ll be counting friendlies next.

I have a similar attitude towards Jester games - happy to see them lower down the pyramid but really do want us playing them regularly.

Sorry Martin, referring to the league/non-league. In desperation you’ll be counting friendlies next. You must have forgotten Football League teams have a proper Cup Competition to play in as well as the FA Cup. I will forgive you as its such along time ago you were a Football League side.

I’m a bit surprised the LA poster and other advertising shows your owners name as Wryan and Wrob more the sort of disrespectful mistake you get on here. Or is it a comedy (serious question)?

Not sure but I’m guessing the Wr bit refers to Wrexham. No idea tbh. Surprising how much you can play about with the name Wrexham. This thread demonstrates that.

Good evening from a balmy night on the front terrace. We've had our Dyson Pure Cools, bar drinks cabinets and ice machine working overtime in the heatwave. We're getting a nice base tan for the Montechoro in September. We can't wait for the next game! . There's over a thousand able bodied fans going to deep & darkest Yeovil on Saturday. A 370 mile round trip. I'd personally like to see the Proclaimers walk 500 miles. That songs ruined many an engagement and wedding party night. And of course we've then sold out our allocation for Chesterfield. 1800 next Tuesday. A mere 4 hour round trip. Our support is League One and above. We're desperate for the new Kop stands 5500 seats. And then we start utilising the other stands and raising the capacity to about 25K. 25 years ago outside Saltergate I swore an oath. "I'm never coming back to this fooooook-in town again". I remain true to my word. I never want to go back to Chesterfield. I'd rather pick grit from my tyres. Every game is a cup final. Everyone wants to beat us. They raise their game. "Hollywoods coming to town" their local rags and websites proclaim. We've got squad strength this season. With more additions to come. We had a poor start last season. A weak squad for injuries/suspensions This time it's different. We have options. 2 tough games coming up. I watched Yeovil recently on BT. Good side and always up for it. And Chesterfield. With their own aspirations. There haven't been many training or competitive matches for some of our new recruits to bond or gel. Develop an understanding. In the 70s and 80's when new players came in players traditionally went out on a team bonding excercise. Peppers. Scotts Night Club. Night Owl. The Cotton Club. Bonkers etc There's been no publicised club party nights. Everyone wants to beat us. And that's the way it should be. We're competing at long last. These clubs are cheeky baaaastards some of them. Was it Maidenheads official website? 'Hollywoods coming to Town". Yeovil and fooooooki'n Chesterfield are going to be tough. In the larger context as part of a broader at a broader level from a wider perspective....as long as we don't lose both games I'll be reasonably happy. It's a marathon not a sprint. We didn't have the legs last season because of squad strength. We've won our first game at home. 2 tough games ahead. Nothing taken for granted
