Tesco Momentum 99 for me every time. Better for the engine and genuinely appears to last better. It might be £167.9 now, but it's a very highly rated fuel and also used to be well over 10p dearer than unleaded which is a bonus the gap has shortened, hopefully it stays 5p above at the most. There's a lot of people questioning the efficiency of E10 already. Yet Tesco’s Momentum doesn’t seem as popular with petro heads as V Power……. www.torquecars.com/forums/threads/tesco-momentum-99-unleaded-fuel.15673/I’ve personally never used anything but the basic (diesel) and it all seems the same so just go by price but perhaps you’ve got a high performance car that needs it?

So how much of this 5p per litre do you thing the greedy forecourts will pass on? Very easy one to hide behind as the prices change almost daily. It wont be the customer that will win with this one, that's for sure. I stopped checked the stats a long time ago, instead of moaning about 5p I just get on with my life and fill up ;-)

Cutting fuel duty won't really help anyone that much. We'd all do better to reduce our fuel consumption and the numbers of journeys we make. It would be better if, for once, Sunak helped those in work by at least deferring the NIC increase, or helped people who may be in fuel poverty and perhaps not have a car, by cutting tax on energy bills. Separate point - according to that article, fuel duty plus VAT equates to about 70p per litre. As we switch away from petrol and diesel (only 8 years until sales of new petrol vehicles end), the loss of government revenue will be massive. They can't add a consumption-based duty or increase VAT on electricity from 5% because it's indistinguishable from domestic electricity. The obvious question to ask is what will replace it? There's got to be a big and increasing tax hike coming from somewhere. A notional additional electricity duty based on vehicle ownership perhaps? Or a huge increase in vehicle excise duty? At least the current fuel duty taxes those who use their cars the most. Replacing it seems like it might be a challenge. i suspect a tax on the miles you drive will be introduced.

You now, thinking about it I think Rishi has made a fundamental error, probablty because he has no idea about the poor.
He had an extra 8p or 9p coming in on each litre sold, but nobody really noticed, people just put it down to the oil price.
He's given 5p per litre back, but that's just going to be absorbed - the oil industry, instead of having a windfall tax imposed will now just make more money. The motoring lobby may be appeased, but those who don't have a car are never going to benefit in their bus fares or products in the shops, 5p per litre is never going to have much influence on that.
What he should have done is helped a little more with our electricity bills, everyone, rich or poor, uses some electricity, so it would have been a simple way to spread the extra VAT on fuel and that little bit of "wriggle" room he found he had to everyone, rich or poor.

Indeed, I suggest people keep an eye on PetrolPrices.com, you can get daily price alerts sent to your email for stations near to you, Sainsburys is the cheapest at the moment. www.petrolprices.com/

There is, of course, one other way of both saving money, and reducing environmental downsides at the same time: ease off on the right foot, and don't accelerate or brake fiercely: I tested my Audi once on a journey to Birmingham Airport, and achieved over 63mpg in a 2-litre A4.....

Do you not pass other stations.
Of course, the best way you could save money is not to drive anywhere at all.

Of course, the best way you could save money is not to drive anywhere at all. I drive to sainsburys every day, don't always happen to notice the price, and even if I do what's the point unless I drive past several others for comparison ? and even then with prices changing daily it might not be cheaper when I get there just use an app and if your local happens to be more expensive just pop a few quids worth in for now all reminds me of an old advert

There's me thinking that to do our bit to reduce buying 8% of our oil from Russia we should maybe cut down our usage a little.
"FA will pay for 100 coaches to get Manchester City and Liverpool fans to Wembley" I suppose that's in addition to the 50 coaches Man City have secured?
Hope the motorway network is ok that day.

Not to mention road tolls! No, don't mention road tolls. I took my dad to a medical appointment in Widnes last week, got home late at night and next day completely forgot to pay for crossing the Mersey bridge. Remembered the following day - too late! It'll cost me a £20 penalty as well as the £4 tolls!

Has anyone noticed that 5p (6p with the VAT) fuel duty reduction at the pumps? Looking at the prices today, it doesn't seem to have been passed on to customers at all.

Has anyone noticed that 5p (6p with the VAT) fuel duty reduction at the pumps? Looking at the prices today, it doesn't seem to have been passed on to customers at all. Well the day before it was announced all the Shell stations in Telford put their prices up by 3p. Think they have come down 3-5p, but that's easy when you've put 3p on 24 hours before. So they have used the reduction to make extra profit. The sooner people learn to boycott them the better.

It’s the difference in the price I’d diesel over petrol, used to be 2/3 pence now more like 14 pence, 18 in Grizzleys link. Why?

I’ve noticed this week Shell on Thieves Lane are charging 197.9p per litre for both petrol and diesel……
Filled up yesterday at Sainsbury’s a mile away for 179.9p for diesel
