Good afternoon Thanks for contacting us regarding your concerns about the price of our fuel. We understand that the price of petrol and diesel in these challenging economic times is a concern to our customers. Like all fuel retailers in the UK, we use a local pricing policy and do our best to be as competitive as we can wherever we operate. This policy helps us manage differing overhead costs concerning real estate, transport and logistics. Importantly for motorists, it also allows us make sure that all of our petrol stations accept cash, are manned late at night and are modern and safe places to fill up. Finally, our local pricing policy allows us to operate petrol stations in more remote areas which would not be economically viable otherwise. This, along with the more structural considerations, for example our supply and distribution costs, explains why our pump prices are set at the level they are and vary from location to location. We offer quality assured fuels and a range of goods and services (for instance we’re the market leaders for Pay at Pump) at modern facilities and importantly at a competitive price. The price of fuel is closely monitored across all of our trading areas to ensure that we remain as competitive as possible locally and we look for opportunities to pass on wholesale cost savings whenever the opportunity presents itself. I hope that this has clarified our position with you and you’ll continue to shop and fill up at Morrisons. Kind regards So basically feel free to go to cheaper filling stations till they get the message that "other more remote stations" can sell it far cheaper so they lose out. My short reply Thanks for your reply. With respect ‘local pricing policy’ is just a way of saying we charge what we can get away with locally. The two stores I’m talking about are 8 miles apart and use the same delivery drivers yet you make more out of the Wellington, Telford store than you do Shrewsbury. They we’re always the same price before the ‘challenging economic times’

All it would take for them to bring their prices down is to have an Essar station built just across the road from each supermarket. They would soon bring the prices down.

Of course the government are really hoping this downward trend on petrol and diesel continues.
Just playing into their hands of fleecing a bit more from the motorist into their grubby little hands come March. Doubt they would get away with it had it still been sky high.

When are people going to accept that fuel prices are dependent upon the global oil markets and beyond the control of individuals, or indeed individual governments.
Within that, there are of course a number of local price variations and it is therefore up to the consumer to shop around, just like you do for food, insurance, clothes etc. etc. etc.
It's not some rip-off conspiracy.

I’ve noticed that Asda Tesco and Sainsbury inShrewsbury now charge the same (within 1p) as The Mount and Four Crosses garage. Still a good 6/7p more if you fill up in Telford and diesel drivers now seem destined to pay an extra 20p a litre permanently.

Firstly the price we actually pay is dependant on the strength of sterling which isn’t good. In other words if Stirling gains strength fuel prices will go down despite global prices. Why’s sterling so low is the question (remember the disastrous mini budget?). Secondly each country ‘affects’ the price we pay by applying fuel duty and VAT. With rising global prices tax revenue increases but rather than cut this (like the French) we’ve announced an increase from next April. So prices are dependant on individual governments (and global markets) as over a third of the cost is tax.

And in other breaking news, Prince Charles is set to become king after the sad death of his mother. Accused of profiteering the supermarkets have accepted a gentle slap on the wrist as punishment. How about some real action like massive fines to eat into those big profits?

Couldn’t stop laughing, it’s my sense of humour . My wife thinks I’ve lost the plot. Mind you, she did say “ are you on blue and amber again”. Don’t see how that’s relevant at all 😂😂😂 Keep up the good work.

139.7 and 136.7 at Asda in Telford.
Still cheaper at independent garages like Whitchurch but not enough to justify a trip up there to fill up, but I've got a trip up there in next few weeks so will call and fill it up there. If nothing else to make me feel better that going local and being ripped off.

Both here in Ellesmere and at St Martins, unleaded is 144.9 a litre.
Yet in North Wales many garages are between 155.9 and 161.9 a litre.

Driving round Telford I clock the prices as I go past garages. They are putting prices up pretty much 1p every day almost without fail. Up to their old tricks again, push the prices up to where they want them to after finally having to slash their profits after weeks of holding out against reports of them ripping off the customer. Probably wont be too long before I resort to heading up to Whitchurch again I guess.

Save the trip. 145.9 and 147.9 at Grindley Brook currently - more expensive than any supermarket in Shrewsbury It’s shooting back up. Not a welcome trend

Not a welcome trend I know they currently arent any cheaper, they have a FB page which they post a photo of their current prices as they change. But I'm sure when they start to move down Robert's will bring theirs down. And the big boys will keep theirs at a 'competitive' price once again. I'll just keep an eye on it.

Rip off prices well and truly back in Town - 152.9 for unleaded give or take
Meanwhile Grindley Brook Essar can still sell at 139.9
Supermarkets should be ashamed, time for some proper regulation

We all know prices have to go up when costs go up. The shameful bit is they take far longer to reduce the price when costs drop. In the summer they had to be shamed for weeks into reducing it.
