Interesting development. Meanwhile AFC Bury continue to go well, undefeated and top of their league.

That is great news that a buyer has been found for Bury Fc.

A fan owned Club? Unfortunately, although that does have some advantages, it has some limitations too. The supporters of Wrexham and other Clubs who have gone down that route would probably confirm that.
I'd like to know how 'funds from overseas' fits into their plan.

So Bury could end up with 2 non league clubs if this deal goes through.
Interesting times.

Didn’t have any sympathy when they went under. Yeah it’s not fair on the fans, but they overspent for years, much like Blackburn etc. It was about time someone paid the price for it. As we support a club who don’t spend beyond our means I’d quite happily see many more clubs disappear if it means lesson will be learnt, but they probably won’t.
If they did get a takeover, spend big and move quickly back into league football, it would make a mockery of the system and clubs overspending.

I don’t think they are out of the mire yet, reliant on government funds too if they are to get the deal done - like Telford and Wrekin supporting the skip rats down the road should this really happen. I’d be very unhappy to see tax payers funds end up in the pocket of the crook who currently holds the keys at Bury FC…..

I too had no sympathy when they went under due to their overspending, as I guess neither did whoever missed out on automatic promotion to them a season or two before they went bust. They only got there due to this overspending (probably). The FL were appalling the way they *ed about with it over many weeks imo. However now they have lost their FL place I would welcome them back at some point in the future, once they have worked their way back from the same position that other clubs have had to from a similar position. They should not start at any higher position than any other club but I would still welcome them back should they finally manage it.

Bizarrely the potential deal doesn’t include ‘Bury FC Ltd’, so it will be another Phoenix club. To be the original club they would need to take on the name as well as the assets and then satisfy all football creditors and part of other debts - millions of pounds - then start low down the pyramid with a divided fan base. TBH, after years of them overspending and giving it the big one at responsible clubs expense I’m happy to see the original club rot……

Good news. I was totally in agreement in them being expelled (indeed the FL dithered and farted around far too long). But that is history now and would love to see them get back to the FL at some point in the future. Indeed I love to see any ex league team get back in (well almost any!!)

Me too, with the stipulation that any team wishing to join the EFL must be based inEngland. We wouldn’t want Rangers, Celtic or Cefn Druids sneaking in and devaluing the Competition.

Great news on the face of it… although the quite clear fan division between Bury AFC and the ‘real’ Bury FC doesn’t bode all that well.
Couldn’t care less who has the correct name, who is the right club etc etc… just hope that we don’t have yet another Bury crisis in a few years and be subjected (again) to the begging buckets and “little old Bury” sob stories…

'Gigg Lane would be relaid with an artificial surface, to allow use by locals'.
After all the efforts by that groundsman to keep the pitch in pristine condition!

Interest to see that there is a Peterborough Sports club in National League North, (and currently 4th), who I’d never heard of until this season. Wonder what the relationship is to Utd and their supporters, and how they’re viewed.

Strange quote towards the end of the article suggesting that the coming together of fans and private enterprise would be a first?...errm I would throw in Hereford FC and I'm sure there have been others before that ?

A punishment needed to be handed down in this case, and (eventually) it was. If a club bearing the name 'Bury' that plays at Gigg Lane should now rise back up through the football pyramid, then best of luck to it and its supporters.
