Quite a coincidence, though most BC fans seem very positive about him, despite how it ended there.
What struck me from the formation blog though, was the description of a 3-5-2 formation as too attacking. So many seem to think of it as a more defensive set up than 4-4-2. Myself, I think it can be either, and that's its beauty. It can be 3, 4 or 5 at the back, according to need, similar flexibility in midfield and can accommodate 3 or 4 attackers too.
To get the best from it, all you need is mobility and players who understand it properly.

He needs to be Wycherley and Caldwell's last managerial appointment.

To be fair to him, he has been fairly flexible formation wise, it's more the players picked in that formation that is a bit more questionable. And obviously the complete lack of players in positions they usually play

And obviously the complete lack of players in positions they usually play To be honest, I think this piece says more about the prevailing ethos/identity of the club, and its failure to adapt from being a relatively large fish in a small pool (Div 1) to being a relatively small fish in a larger pool. Club owners/investors, call them what you will, must, above all, show ambition and be strategically nimble in order to make that change of circumstances work to their advantage. As I have said elsewhere, to not change is to stagnate and then to go backwards.

He's the best we are going to get, he'll keep us up again and go on from there. Has my full support plus Wilbraham who can also influence things.

The parallels between what happened at Bristol City and what's happening here are clear to see with regards to the transfer debacle and SC's short fuse and unpleasantness at interviews.

This is hilarious, thanks for the link. So we have learnt he doesn't like the press that much. Or maybe he never had his fair share of media training! If we were winning this bad attitude wouldn't matter, but because we are not winning it's easy to pick it out as a potential reason. Maybe we are being unfair. But the fact is we are still struggling. And all we want is that to change.

We lose 3-0 and it's "what do you think today Steve?" ... How do you answer that other than "s**t".

I think it matters because this is what the public face of the club is. As long as this isn't replicated within the club then there is a simple solution: mix it up. Wilbraham and Longwell sharing the post match responsibilities. Why not? They were doing it when Cotterill wasn't around. If it is replicated within the club then there is a real problem.

A similar bunch of clips could also be posted with Sir Alex being interviewed.
My favourite being the Dutch media interview at the time of the Van Nistelroy transfer - It's strange for a country like Holland to call us arrogant. You are not short of it yourself," retorted Ferguson when a Dutch television journalist accused him of showing a cavalier attitude before United's heaviest European defeat in six years.
I think the Dutch have an arrogance in their football, that's well documented by many people, although sometimes it has done you good."
Anyone remember Sir Kenny in his Blackburn days with the hapless Sky Reporter😂😂

Aside from missing the promotion part, the transfer story seems a direct copy. As Roland wont fire him, City fans will now get a chance to see what would have happened had he stuck around.

I've just copy and pasted this from the BBC Sport website after Charlton sacked Nigel Adkins. Most of the parallels are uncanny as well:
He started well at Charlton, losing just one of his first 10 games in charge as the Addicks ended the season in eighth place, just one point outside the play-offs.
In the summer, Adkins brought in 15 players and 16 left, but his new-look side failed to gel into one that could repeat the form from last season - they have won only one of their past eight league games, having failed to win any of their first four.
The team has struggled defensively and only Morecambe have let in more than the 23 goals Charlton have conceded this season, the joint second worst total in the division. Analysis
Louis Mendez, BBC Radio London Charlton Athletic reporter
"It's a shame as he was a good man who came in with good intentions and started off really well.
"But this season has started off poorly and just got progressively worse.
"I know he was disappointed with how the transfer window went this summer - Charlton acted too late and didn't really have a pre-season behind them, and the inability to put a settled side out in terms of fitness set Charlton back a bit.
"Every now and then we would get a glimpse that something would change, but the performances have been disjointed and it hasn't really worked out for him."

There is absolutely no possibility of change before January at the very earliest, and the chances even then are negligible. Cotterill is our manager and all anyone else can do is hope for the best. Teams have suddenly found inner reserves of brilliance out of nowhere before, although it's a damn shame that is all we are relying on once again in our seventh consecutive season of League One football.
