It's not unusual for us to have three or four key assets that have contracts coming to an end with the problem of losing them for nothing. Happens every year. But what is encouraging is the likes of Bloxham (he's only 17 so won't start every game), Caton, Wilson and Lloyd looking very promising for the future. Every season ? Which were the 3 or 4 at the end of last season ? Well, Vela and Norburn for starters. Pierre's stock was pretty high too last season. Not bad, when you consider the dead wood we had in that squad.

Cambridge Utd are the league one draw specialists at the moment so I reckon we will have to settle for a point.
1-1 (Bowman)
Att: 5150

If we dont win games like this I will become a little more convinced we will finish in the bottom four come the end of the season.

Cambridge United sit in 16th Position whilst Shrewsbury sit in 21st Position. Therefore worthy of a Notorious quote "It's going to be tough game against a fancied side".

had a quick look at Cambridges last 3 highlights
they have a long thrower, and also good on corners
keeper makes some great saves but prone to a clanger too
they are strong going down the right side but equally as vulnerable themselves on the right, I think we might see whalley cutting in and shooting on site a lot
im going for 2-2

Got free tickets for this one. Girlfriend checked into The Meadow on Facebook a few games back which entered her into an EFL draw and then won tickets for any EFL game.
Rang the club as the EFL booked the tickets in block one but despite them being complimentary the club managed to change them to safe standing tickets for us, handled it really well on the phone, so I’m actually looking forward to it now.

We got the tactics wrong for Oxford. They meant that the team had to much ground to cover(especially Bloxham and Udoh) so when we went behind we had nothing left to get back into it against a decent team. That said we played alright first half and played some good football without the final ball it deserved. We also had some key players missing.
We have improved a lot as a team in the last month or so and I expect us to keep improving. I take SC comments regarding away games as a way of switching the clubs mentality to home games as being where we are strongest. I remember a certain Paul Hurst spending most pre-match interviews praising the opposition which would lower expectation and challenge the team to prove him wrong.

Whatever strange ideas, supposed rudeness, etc. we think we see, SC has a lot of mileage under his belt as a manager, a lot more than us, He knows what he's doing.
People perceive the club hierarchy don't want to spend, do you really think SC would put up with that?
The reason we didn't get the players he wanted last summer was more to do with SC's, perhaps unfortunate, old fashioned attitude that the players do what they are told and don't front up via their agents.

Brian Clough was pretty rude in his time to reporters.
Are we now judging our manager on his post match interview performance , in the way some judged Mr Askey and his body language/ clapping and waving to fans.

I think we'll be solid enough today and manage to scrape a 1-1. The usual lack of concentration to concede in the first twenty minutes and somebody will manage a shot around the 80th minute to get the equaliser.
Another point towards safety. Happy days.

Not really judging but when things don’t go well we want testing questions asking with a civil answer. As fans we’ve got plenty of questions as things aren’t going well, like it or not SC is answerable to the fans even if Roland and Brian are happy to let him have a free hand.

Hard work and endeavour simply aren't good enough against so much of the quality teams in this league. And when we have a small squad and so many square pegs in round holes so many of our games this season are going to be write offs before we even kick off.
So, that just increases the importance of these kind of games. At home, against a team who are towards the bottom with us. Clearly at this stage of the season it's not a 'must win' game, but goodness me, if survival is to happen we need to win a lot more of these kind of games than we lose.

Do we know what the away ticket sales have been like? Or if Cambridge have good away support in general for that matter.
If they only bring 300 or so it could look very empty today

Not bad, when you consider the dead wood we had in that squad. my question was Every season ? Which were the 3 or 4 at the end of last season ? you've named 3 assetts that fortunately were still in contract for this season

Those at the end of their contracts are not assets.

Not sure you get the point really , no one that was an asset left last season due to being tied down by previous management only pyke and Burgoyne were a question mark I would say for having too long a contract

I'd love to know a timeframe for Vela to return. Not for it to be rushed but it would be good to not have to hope of his return every game.

Nurse over Pierre? 4 at the back? Another formation!! Looks more like a back 5 to me. Bennett and Ogbeta wing backs, Leahy Davies central midfielder, Whalley further forward.
