Ye gods, people get a grip all of you....this ISNT about politics, just ill-mannered loutish behaviour, which should be stamped on!!! Thought bad manners were things like talking with your mouth full or forgetting your Ps and Qs, not doing a racism.

We don't get much racism going on at the Meadow, so good to see it being dealt with. Lifetime bans etc, nice stark-warning. Well done club. Well done the rest of us nice fans.

Inappropriate behaviour immediately dealt with by the sounds of it. Not sure there’s a need for virtue signalling posts from the club all over social media. Maybe to give a clear indication that such behavior is unacceptable, that it won't go unnoticed and to make it clear that it will result in a permanent ban and possible police action...👍 But you are right about the first point. I guess we should wait for the full facts but if it is correct then whilst the club will no doubt be disappointed to have to deal with such a situation it sounds as if they should be pleased with the swiftness in which it was dealt with...

Do these people think that the 50% of the team they support who are black are not upset by racist gestures?

Wonder if the results of this police investigation alongside the club will result is as much action as the one for the pitch invasions (i.e nothing)
I bloody hope not to be honest.
Good to see a swift statement from the club. To be honest if any national press pick up on this the club could be shamed in a big way publicly so good to head it off at the pass.

www.shropshirestar.com/news/local-hubs/shrewsbury/2021/10/18/police-join-football-club-in-condemning-racist-abuse-at-shrewsbury-town-game/Police say they have spoken to a number of witnesses as their inquires continue into reports of racist abuse at Shrewsbury Town FC. West Mercia Police has echoed the football club's condemnation of the incident during Saturday's match against MK Dons at the Montgomery Waters Meadow stadium and asked for witnesses to get in touch. Superintendent Stuart Bill said: " West Mercia Police is working with Shrewsbury Town FC to investigate reports of racist abuse at at Saturday’s match against MK Dons. “We have spoken to a number of witnesses and our enquiries are continuing to ensure we have sufficient evidence to take robust action against those suspected of being responsible." Supt Bill added: “There is no place for racism in football, or in any place in society, and we will always seek to secure a football banning order for those found guilty of racist abuse at a football match. “We echo the words of the club in that we are bitterly disappointed and deeply appalled at the alleged racist behaviour.”

Superintendent Stuart Bill sounds like one of my lot.
So far, the club’s response to this appalling allegation seems to be spot on.

I remember about 10 years ago when in Block 19 the 'you are the love of my life' song was adapted to the CB Yado Mambo with the line 'you would destroy my wife', and it was clear what the attempted joke was. There was no reaction whatsoever.
What would be the reaction / reception of that song today?

Great to see. Wish this had been the policy in the late 90s when taxi driving individuals could be openly yelling racist abuse for years on end

Wish this had been the policy in the late 90s when taxi driving individuals could be openly yelling racist abuse for years on end Hardly late 90s certainly continued well into the New Meadow era until fans stepped forward, complained and gave evidence against ‘someone’ ending with imprisonment I think, certainly a long football banning order…. This is what needs to happen fans were stood next to the ‘accused’ yet did nothing. Do we operate the system where you can anonymously text the control and report discriminatory behaviour. If we do we need more signs.. If you do text is there an immediate response?

I missed the game Saturday but have spoken to Lawrence and Brian this morning. WMP and club have acted swiftly and we all agree this behaviour isn’t welcome at the Meadow and it’s now in the hands of the police who will investigate and together with the club will take the necessary action. The message is this won’t be tolerated, 99.99% of our fans are absolutely amazing and we won’t get dragged down by the odd idiot!

We have loads of positive songs about the club and various players. That's blatantly untrue. Looking forward to taking my place in Block 19 later 👍🎤

I remember the chant crystal clear. What was the sixth line then in the Mambo version? I think the point is with Marty Harold it’s verging on sexist and gingerist yet with Mambo it was racist stereotyping black people as having a large cock! Many are saying they’ve never heard racist chants in block 19.

Many are saying they’ve never heard racist chants in block 19. Care to explain how suggesting someone has a large cock (as you put it) is racist? just for reference as I look forward to your reply: racist noun [ C ] disapproving - someone who believes that their race makes them better, more intelligent, more moral, etc. than people of other races and who does or says unfair or harmful things as a result
- coming from or having the belief that people who belong to other races are not as good, intelligent, moral, etc. as people who belong to your own race
- Relating to policies, behaviours, rules, etc. that result in a continued unfair advantage to some people and unfair or harmful treatment of others based on race
