Just released...🙁 www.shrewsburytown.com/news/2021/october/club-statementShrewsbury Town Football Club is bitterly disappointed and deeply appalled to report two individuals were ejected from Montgomery Waters Meadow due to alleged racist gestures during our Sky Bet League One fixture with MK Dons this afternoon. Shrewsbury Town and West Mercia Police will now conduct full and detailed investigations. Should these allegations prove true, any individual guilty of these disgusting offences will receive a lifetime ban from all Shrewsbury Town fixtures. The club will work closely with West Mercia Police and will support any action suggested. Our football club has and always will have a zero-tolerance to any form of racism and discrimination.

I won’t put the tweet up as it got swearing but a MKD fan tweeted a pic of block 19 saying that were chanting racist abuse. Yet again block 19 continue to bring shame on the club.

Inappropriate behaviour immediately dealt with by the sounds of it.
Not sure there’s a need for virtue signalling posts from the club all over social media.

Really disappointing to hear this happened, but good to see the club taking action and putting out a very clear statement on the issue. Hopefully anyone in block 19 who witnessed the offenders will report the details to so there is enough evidence for the bans to be given out. Online reports can be made via the Kick it Out website www.kickitout.org/forms/online-reporting-form

I wondered why the MK fans were singing that song. Glad it’s been dealt with and doesn’t represent our club.

I've been in block 19 since the ground opened. I have not heard any racist chanting or seen any gestures at games. Let's not tar a few hundred fans because of a couple of idiots.

I was in 19 this afternoon (as I always am) and didn't realise this had happened. Fully support throwing the book at whoever is responsible though, reprehensible behaviour that's frankly an embarrassment. Don't recognise the picture that's painted of 19 here though.

very disapointing but glad the stewards acted so quickly and the club giving a clear message about there views on it. unless iv got this wrong equally whilst not been complacent in any way this is a tiny number out of hundreds who go and support from block 19 .

It's really rather pathetic that in this day and age people of any skin tone are hurling abuse at other human beings be they football players or opposing fans ( I'm afraid I'm unaware of the full facts as I'm sure most aren't). If it's at a player of the opposition why do it, then probably cheer one of your own teams players who may also be a similar colour ?? It's good that the club have reacted quickly and put out a statement denouncing such actions and getting the police involved. When the true facts come out if these two individuals are found guilty let's hope they get suitable justice and that their employers ( if they have jobs ) take a somewhat dim view of this incident. Racism and sexism is just plain dumb.

Saw at half time that a couple of lads were being spoken to by police at the back of the West Stand and then were escorted away down Super Blues Way by stewards. Then when I heard some of the stuff MK fans were singing after half time I put 2 & 2 together. Assuming they were related, I'm surprised they were let go

Not sure there’s a need for virtue signalling posts from the club all over social media. Virtue signalling? 😂😂 As it’s clear that very few people in the ground knew what had gone on and the consequences for those responsible, it’s absolutely right the club highlight it and make sure their subsequent actions are clear to any other Neanderthals who may think about doing similar things and staining the reputation of our club and town.

Would think the club have got some evidence either from CCTV or MK fans footage to identify and act so quickly.
A bit surprised some in block 19 have never heard racist chanting. One of the reasons I moved to safe standing from 18 when it opened due to the age of the kids I was with. Had hoped it was a thing of the past but it’s happened before regularly and seems still goes on. Just hope as with previous prosecutions fans come forward as witnesses. They were stood next to some other fans so surely they’ll step forward.
A small minority spoil it for the real fans but it’s not new.

I didnt hear anything apart from the same old cringeworthy childish s**t from both sets of fans, I'd bet happy if they turned block 19 into something useful

People saying they didn’t hear anything, re-read the statement - racist gestures. Swift punishment, statement to remind people that it won’t be tolerated, good work.

People are saying they’ve never heard anything hence my post. It is unbelievable that fans would gesture in a racist way. I’m not even sure how they’d do that and get noticed in a crowd of 100’s but then I had to google what’s a racist gesture and found another world of abuse I didn’t know about. Just checked Twitter and according to MK fans was ‘monkey gestures’ which continued in the second half by some after fans had been ejected. No doubt all on CCTV so expect more knock on doors 👍 ‘I think one of the boys was ejected at halftime. More gestures happened in the second half and was reported to the police and stewards but was just brushed away, baring in mind the gestures were obvious’

I get it now , that kind of makes it funny in a way that they maybe thought it would be easier to get away with and yet it was probably the easiest way to highlight themselves , shame we can’t get a video of them doing it along with their names

No surprise those who deploy common right wing tropes about 'virtue signalling', 'social justice warriors' and 'wokery' should think this way. No doubt there are many in full tacit agreement but keeping their noses buried in The Spectator just now.

If I was to sarcastically remark "nice weather today!" during a thunderstorm would you in outraged fashion correct me by pointing out the weather was actually terrible?
