I have no idea if they will be open to football fans but if so, here's a new place to have a pre match drink, well if you like craft beer anyway. Only a small place based where Pritchards are

I was pleasantly surprised when I heard you could have a drink in as I thought it was just a delivery business, but as is the case with a lot of the new craft beer places I'm expecting it to be very 'minimalist'.

Thanks for that, was going to have a look for the menu so saved me a job. I suspect I'll struggle to persuade mates to switch from the Grove for pre match based on the menu & price😁

Talk about over priced! If it was in a prime location in town over looking the river in attractive surroundings they may get a few takers. However, behind a petrol station next to a van hire centre with a kebab shop and laundrette next door? Err, I think not! And that’s not a slight at kebab shops or laundrettes!

Cheapest pint £6? Selling them in thirds? WTF? No thanks 👍 Its a craft beer place, the prices are nothing out of the ordinary. If you go Tap & Can by the station you'll see similar prices, however they do have a wider choice, including some more traditional beers at cheaper prices. The thirds & two thirds are down to the high percentage of some of the beers. This company was simply a website/distribution centre based out at Hadnall but have moved and as part of it, have set up a small space to drink in. It's certainly a niche market but definitely one that is growing.

A pale ale at 5.6% costing £6 is daylight robbery, no matter how you decide to dress it up 👍 I do like bottled craft beers and I agree it’s nice to have something different which is worth paying a little bit extra for but not to this degree. As Pilch says I can’t see them being round for long.

I definitely think there is a strong market for this sort of place. I am personally happy to pay a little bit more if it's a locally run business. I'd also say, if they didn't think it would work, surely they wouldn't be opening a new premises during a global pandemic?

As Pilch says I can’t see them being round for long. I don't disagree it's expensive (compared to 'normal' beer), but there are people willing to pay it. In town places like Tap & Can, Oil and House of Grain have sprung up in recent years, their prices can be similar but they are popular and I know people who have been ordering from Rad for a few years now so like I say, there is a market for it. But I do know a lot of people who think the prices for craft beer are madness, each to their own I guess. In terms of how long they will be around, they've been around a while already and suspect they've built up a following that people will be willing to visit them (I've got a friend in Shifnal who occasionally comes over for a drink, he's already said next time he's here he will head there). But I'd imagine the core of their business would still be through the distribution of beers and the drinking in is just an extra bit of income.

£6 a pint, how much? For those who are rich enough or daft enough crack on but I'll be sticking with my £3 pint of Gold at the brewery

You could accept £4-£5 in town in a decent bar with some funky ales, but anything over £4 opposite Meole Estate behind a petrol station is taking the p**s.

There was quite a few places like this in Edinburgh and they were really popular when I was up there a few weeks ago.

You could accept £4-£5 in town in a decent bar with some funky ales, but anything over £4 opposite Meole Estate behind a petrol station is taking the p**s. You aren't paying for the location, its the beer. For example, one of the drinks is from the brewery Omnipollo, to a large amount of people that won't mean anything but in the craft beer world they are big and their beers are expensive so the prices mentioned won't come as a surprise to people who drink it. Some pubs in town may have a token premium lager or a funky ale from someoneone like Brewdog/Tiny Rebel, but this place is very much a place for the craft beer folk. In recent years I've dipped my toe into the craft beer scene but certainly am no expert and have limits on what I will spend, some of the amounts I see a single pint/can go for seems utter madness to me, but then if people want to spend that sort of cash then good luck to them.

It's also another option for drinkers close to the ground that caters for a different market of drinker.

Half a pint and you are over limit for driving....a couple of pints or less and you are still over the limit the next morning.
....and most of it tastes horrible....I will stick to Butty Bach or Landlord.

Can see frankwellshrews dragging me in there on a match day, your round lad! 😂 I'll look forward to it, mon, long overdue a good catch up over a few beers and a match. These places are pricey but in this case these guys mostly sell to the off trade I think. Target audience is probably people driving to pick up a case and maybe sampling something whilst there. Low turnover on the beers, probably a bit of wastage so they need a decent mark up. I also think it reflects the changing nature of how people use bars and pubs now. Few people under 50 can afford the time and/or the money to be propping up a bar on the regular so pubs and bars respond accordingly by trying to grab as much of your cash as they can when you are in there, hence the rise of expensive craft beers and cocktails (premiumisation I believe the marketing bods call it). I also think people are willing to pay that bit extra if it's more of an occasional treat than something you do a few times a week.

Thanks for this. Have been buying from rad beer for a little while, but have always done it online. Only realised on last delivery they had moved to meole.
They offer some lovely beer and generally at decent prices for what it is. I very much go for their cheaper end but it is still much more than supermarkets etc as they cater for a very different audience. Much the same as this being different from your standard pub.

Clearly not for you, but no need to slag it off. You aren't paying for the area it is in, you are paying for quality craft beer. If you don't like it, don't go

It's also another option for drinkers close to the ground that caters for a different market of drinker. Like the pub / restaurant they’re building directly opposite the entrance to the stadium👍 Dont know if anyone else found the small brewery close to The Ricoh stadium (Coventry Building Society stadium) on the industrial estate…We followed a few locals and it was open especially for the game….. Dhillons or something similar, quite refreshing when the only alternative was the night type bar at the stadium. Also found one somewhere else but can’t remember where…… Theres a demand for something a bit different…but could they really have 400 different beers 😳
