I can understand if somebody tests positive after being alerted that they should isolate. Surely if they test negative then they should be allowed to release from isolation. This would help as they would be out for 2-3 days.

Do you not get the £500 isolation thing? Must admit I don't know much about it. I think you have to be on benefits or very low income for it. Even then you have to jump through 200 hoops before you get anywhere near it.

Grandson tested positive yesterday so isolating but affects my son who’s had to isolate on zero pay (his boss may relent) also the family were due to go on holiday on Sunday and that’s a no. I may get pinged but last saw him at Telford game where he was right by the drum the whole game and just maybe caught it there….get a test if you were close and feel unwell. Discussions all day if we have to isolate as I saw my son on Sunday but officially if he shows no signs it becomes secondary so only isolate if asked to. Seems crazy but that’s the rules. Avoiding my wife’s elderly mum and limiting meeting anyone but still going out with dogs etc.. OT my other son in Bristol had 4 texts this morning off friends testing positive. They’re warning of 250k a day within a couple of weeks! Great plan Boris You have to have been in close contact with someone within 48 hours of them testing positive. So if you haven't you don't have to isolate.

Re turning the app off, all the pubs, restaurants etc I’ve been to during the past few months require contact details if you don’t scan the app. As I’m not a teenager I often go out without a phone. Presumably Track and Trace would be in touch if I had been in contact with an infected person? I have not actually met anyone that has had to isolate from doing this. It has always either been the app or because someone close has covid.

They are the only people that wouldn't lose money from having to isolate (generalising). as I'd used my sick pay up from work I had 3 months last year bringing in just £74 a week ESA, and that was only as I'd got a doctors note, I got by with savings and didn't have to ask the missus for anything additional to what she normally contributes but I can see that this could quite easily cause debt and arguments in a home

If you have the app you are doing more harm than good. Covid is not going away, so for those who have the app how long are you going to keep it for ? Until Christmas? New year ? For ever ? It's all numbers bounced around spreading unnecessary fear. People are ditching it by the thousands by the week as it is totally unrealistic to keep 'self isolating' for ever ! All the figures relating to this virus are a lie (distorted truth). Wake up people and ditch the mask and the app, you are causing more harm than good.

I always think those drink driving warning ads are exaggerated too, can I suggest we stop getting taxis and take the car to the pub instead, especially if you live in the countryside

I’ve never had the app, Work in a warehouse with 200 odd people with little to no social distancing from day one. I don’t really understand where you draw the line, as if one person from our place was told to isolate there’s nothing to say they haven’t been in contact with every other person in the warehouse. With all the ‘pinging’ going on we’d never be open.
