That’s a very good move for him. Even if he goes on to excel and his career kicks on, I still think it was the right decision to let him go, he’d been stagnating and even going backwards here for a while.

Good move for him. League One is clearly his level and Doncaster are usually a top half club.

Good luck to him.
Still only 22 and he potential but as others have mentioned, he seems to have stagnated the past year.
Nevertheless, a good signing for Donny.

Good luck to the lad, but massively unpredictable and I look forward to our front men playing against him.

Reckon we will regret losing him to be honest, but the hate brigade had turned on him…. So that was that

Reckon we will regret losing him to be honest, but the hate brigade had turned on him…. So that was that Considering most of last season was played behind closed doors I'm not sure you can blame the hate brigade, unless SC's retained list was based on him scouring B&A and Facebook/Twitter. For his sake I hope he proves us wrong but I still think it was the right call to let him go, his performances were getting worse throughout the season

Reckon we will regret losing him to be honest, but the hate brigade had turned on him…. So that was that Dan Udoh got far more criticism last season and he was kept on. Our fans can be pretty knee jerk and reactionary at the best of times, as with all clubs, but I think it’s a huge exaggeration to say the hate brigade turned on him

His dip in form seemed to coincide with Pierre's injury and being played out of his normal position. His distribution was also one of the weakest of our central defenders and I think SC wants the defenders to step out more with the ball. That is a good move for him and no doubt he will come to the Meadow next season and not put a foot wrong all game.

I'm one of those thinking it was a mistake to let Williams go. Best of luck to him at his new club.
Terminal decline, or just loss of confidence / form caused by overplaying and too many defensive changes going on around him? We'll get to see how the two defences compare over the next season or two. Town leaked at a rate of just over 1 goal per match with Williams (i.e. top half defence.....where we'd have likely ended up each season, given a better attack). Donny's defence was worse.
The two defenders that SC has brought in ? perhaps best not to look too closely at their stats. Clearly he expects these will improve playing alongside AP and EE and with our more solid (injuries permitting) central midfield, whilst also contributing more going forward than Williams could.

Big mistake letting him go. He struggled when asked to play on the left and that distroyed his confidence.
We had a very good defence last season and he was a big part in that. Yes of course mistakes crept in when the team was low on confidence but show me a player that doesn't make mistakes when the team is on such a terrible run.
He will definitely be one that got away. Already league 1 standard and only 22. If we had signed him now from another league 1 club with his appearances and record I'd be delighted.

At the moment he's your average run of the mill League One defender. I do genuinely believe he got worse at the Club & a fresh start was in everyone's interests. We already have Pierre & EEL under contract so releasing RSW allows Steve more wiggle room.

I think two and a half years of being on the end of constant attritional defending caught up with him in the end. He could still be a good player, but needs the benefit of a fresh start.

Definitely one that we'll regret, hands down we'll look back, but in Cotterill we trust.

In my opinion I have to say that is a great move for Ro Shaun. Good luck to him. Hope it all works out for him.

For all we know he was on more money than SC thought he was worth. We did get him permanently from United so I doubt he was on a pittance.
So for us to get compensation we'd have to offer him equal or better than his current deal.
I also think this is why Udoh was kept on as he was cheap enough to be a project.
I do think RSW was good and did fade in the second half of the season, the biggest dissapointment for me was he came with a lot of reports saying his distribution and passing was standout compared to most defenders for his age (I remember the videos of his passing as he signed...) I hope he pushes on as he seems like a good lad.

Disagree …….not good enough !!!! you're prerogative, however the Manager of DRFC, who i think finished a lot higher than us believes he is good enough, and i take his judgment above yours.

I’ll take SC’s judgement over the manager of DRFC and you, and SC has seen more of Roshaun than either of you or him.

Reckon we will regret losing him to be honest, but the hate brigade had turned on him…. So that was that I think he’s someone we may regret letting go too, but the hate brigade turning on him is nothing to do with being let go. He wasn’t playing well enough and his distribution out of the back was woeful. SC isn’t making contract decisions based on a hate brigade otherwise certain other players wouldn’t be here either.

For me, I think it’s just about the right call. I always felt he wasn’t confident enough on the ball but that goes for a high % of our defenders over the years. I think he’ll do okay at Doncaster but I trust that SC will bring in better as replacements.

Saw him as an upgrade on Beckles but after the second half of the season that he had he was always going to struggle to hold down a place this season. Good move for all concerned.

Always seemed too relaxed and unconcerned if he made a mistake. Also never really showed his electric pace we were told about once while he was here..

Good luck to him. Perhaps I expected too much, given his background, but he didn't do as well for us as I thought he might - too many mistakes and not as good on the ball as I hoped he'd be. Good, but not the stand out player I thought we might have been getting.

Echo most other views. I'd have been disappointed if he was in our starting 11 come August. That said watch him do great at Donny. Good luck to him

Funny where footballers end up in their careers...this fella has just signed for Northern Irish side Larne. They are owned by the guy who started Purple Bricks.
