I'm not finding much new music sticking with me at the moment. My fault because I've not really been looking for it, which I usually like to do.
Playing today:
Pink Floyd - Grantchester Meadows (an English summer's day in a song, although the fly swat bit at the end is a joke that should have been left in the studio) The Beatles - If I Fell & Golden Slumbers
then a playlist to remind me of my time living in Cheltenham in the early 80s:
Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time Carmel - Bad Day Aztec Camera - How Men Are Simple Minds - Someone Somewhere (In Summertime) My Jamaican Guy - Grace Jones

There’s a guy selling coffee and second hand vinyl in one of the squares in Altrincham, he’s a musician in a funk band, knows his stuff and plays some great tunes on his sound system.
Last Sunday he gave us a morning of The Rebirth Brass Band from New Orleans. Had everyone dancing in the street, totally appropriate for the weather and the vibe.

True, he was playing reggae this morning along with cumbia.

I’ve revisited my music collection over lockdown and been playing a lot of 90s music. Echobelly, Sleeper and Bjorks debut album all all ones I hadn’t heard for a while… Re: Sleeper Louise and Andy live over the road from me. Not that I’m one for name dropping… Isn’t Louise a writer now? Inbetweener really takes me back to the 90s - probably my favourite “Brit pop” song

My daughter has just introduced me to Union Jack radio. Plays only British songs. They have dance and rock channels too. It's not a new station I don't think but it's only just come onto my DAB radio. They played some songs the other day from the likes of Joe Jackson and XTC that I've not heard in years 😊 I've also been listening to Gerry Rafferty of late on my play list. We have union Jack rock on in our sorting office, they play fabulous stuff from the last 50 odd years. You'll get Eric Clapton followed by the specials followed by madness and all manner of great bands. At home I listen to 6music and the other day they played a song called " give thanks" by a bloke I've never heard of from Rochdale called Kirk Mcelhinney. Very talented singer , guitarist who sounds a bit like Paul Weller. Well worth checking out.

Recent purchases: Hendrix, Coltrane, Jesse Osborne-Lanthier, Portishead, John Grant, Nils Frahm, Kieran Hebden, Kae Tempest, Priori, Anne Briggs, Penguin Cafe, Bonobo, Iron & Wine, Keith Jarrett, and Kelly Lee Owens The Kelly Lee Owens record is brilliant. Bought on a whim after hearing her interviewed. The John Cale collaboration I interesting not least hearing him sing in his first language. There isn't a weak track on the Inner Song album.

Earlier today bought a ticket to see Public Service Broadcasting at 02 Apollo Manchester in November. Fabulous band, "spitfire" is a wonderful song. Have you heard of Teleman ?? They are an offshoot of Pete and the pirates. You might like them. Check out "skeleton dance" and "cactus". Well worth a try. You have good ears Mr. Sean.

Earlier today bought a ticket to see Public Service Broadcasting at 02 Apollo Manchester in November. Me too. Taking my daughter to her first non festival gig. I’ll buy you a lemonade if I see you. Also currently own tickets for The Districts, Afflecks Palace, Billy NoMates, Gruff Rhys and Half Man Half Biscuit. The urge to watch live music in the Autumn is strong!

I saw them at Cardiff Uni when they were touring Every Valley. They had the choir on at the end and the audience sang the Welsh national anthem after they sang their song from the album. What a night. I'm debating whether to watch Penguin Cafe at the Barbican in March next year.

I really like Teleman, who I came across via 6Music a few years back. "23 Floors Up" and " Tangerine" are excellent too. Good live band, I should think.

Great tent there too. Think it was the year after that I saw Django Django on fire there and was it also 2017 when The Cribs played there? A great festival.

Re: Sleeper Louise and Andy live over the road from me. Not that I’m one for name dropping… Isn’t Louise a writer now? Inbetweener really takes me back to the 90s - probably my favourite “Brit pop” song Sleeper started touring again before Covid hit. Louise is an author too. There’s a new Sleeper single on Spotify. Album must be imminent as a crate load arrived outside the house 2 weeks ago.

I really like The Shins, especially Chutes too Narrow (2003) and Wincing the night away (2007), great summer listening, just don't ask me to explain the lyrics!
Love listening to Radio Paradise via the internet.https://radioparadise.com/home Fantastic mix of styles and genre of music - if you don't like a particular song then you just press the skip button.

The last album was rather good and very well received by the fans and music press alike. They released an e.p. a while ago which wasn't quite up to scratch. I still love most things punky from the good old days and now. I hear lots of good stuff on 6music. I'll give anything a listen except the likes of Maria Carey and Leona Lewis who think just because they can hit every note going they have to do so in 3 and a half minutes. Have you ever heard of Cardiacs A band from Surrey who were around in the late 80s until about 2010 when ironically their main man Tim Smith had a massive heart attack and stroke which eventually killed him. They supported Marillion years ago and got bottled off at most shows. They are very much a marmite band. You either get them or you hate them. I love them to bits. Check out "A little man and a house and the whole world window " or the more polished later album "sing to god". Their most commercial single was "is this the life" which is fabulous. Look after yourself and try not to think of Miss Luzny too much. ( she was rather nice though ).

I don’t listen to music much at home, there always seems to be something else going on. That being the case, I tend to pop a disc on when I the car. Showing my age, my most played are The Beatles, Hollies, Searchers, Shadows and ABBA.. The wife likes those as well, so no-one is offended by it and it makes us feel young again for a short while.

One of the best songwriters this country has ever produced, and their greatest hits album is superb. They released a new album last month, the first in 19 years, it's hardly groundbreaking but fans will enjoy.

Saw them at Festival No.6 at Portmeirion in 2017. Loved it. Me too. It was brilliant wasn’t it? Great tent there too. Think it was the year after that I saw Django Django on fire there and was it also 2017 when The Cribs played there? A great festival. I miss it. We only ever went on the Sundays but loved the atmosphere. Makes me sad to think of that 2018 Franz Ferdinand set as the last ever performance at No.6. I liked the tent - more of a small concert hall atmosphere. Anna Calvi was so good there on that last night.
