Never saw any of last nights game , heard taa went off injured , would this by any chance not be the result of a tackle ?
If so I’m so annoyed as I was going to predict it and never

Tepid pre tournament performance as per. Can’t help thinking these games are a Waste of time. They are if you look at them as competitive fixtures. But, in terms of preparing for a tournament, they're no more a waste of time than training is. As with training sessions, I don't know why anyone would want to watch them.

Apart from TAA, the squad doesn't seem to be in the best of health:
Grealish - "I've been out for three months ..... It takes time ...... I still train as hard as I can, as if I am back in the swing fully." As if, hmmm. Jordan Henderson - hasn't played since February (groin injury), "felt some discomfort on Wednesday". Sancho - has been ill. Phillips - recovering from shoulder injury, waiting until Sunday's friendly to play him. Rice - missed training this week. Maguire - still recovering, probably won't be ready for the first match. Rashford - niggling injuries.
Southgate - "That's why we ended up with 10 and then 9 at one point and 2 with cramp, so the end was a bit of a mess."
I'm sure other squads have their injury problems so soon after the end of the domestic season but that doesn't look promising for England.

If so I’m so annoyed as I was going to predict it and never Not from a tackle - looked as if he pulled his thigh muscle after a routine clearance. He looked as if he thought his Euros were over when he was helped off. Let's hope Southgate can put these setbacks behind him and get the team in the same frame of mind as they were in Russia. The likes of Rashford and Sterling have never let him down in an England shirt but both are clearly struggling to find form at the moment so Southgate has some difficult decisions to make.

Lol that’s exactly what I meant , seeing the euros go up on smoke he creates an injury , wouldnt be the first or the last to do that

It does seem odd picking so many with injury problems but what do I know?!!!
I expect all Liverpool players are ready for a summer break since they have missed out on one this winter.

I doubt there are many players who aren't nursing some sort of ailment at the end of a long season. I read a quote from a rugby league player (wish I could remember who) to the effect that the only time a player can really hope to be fully fit and injury-free is for the first game of the season. Harder physical contact sport, I know, but I suspect the principle is similar. But England do seem to have a few players going into the tournament with more persistent issues. I don't think we're the strongest in central defence and midfield if everybody's fit and ready, so we certainly can't afford to be weakened there.

Very odd last two matches with very few of the starting team making appearances. Of those who have played Grealish has done himself no harm at all and Ward-Prowse should take the final spot as he offers very good delivery. I think Bellingham might well start the Euros in midfield alongside Rice and that Rashford will also start leaving Foden or Sterling to play on the right (my choice on current form would be Foden). Croatia is probably a must not lose game and we should be able to pick up victories against Scotland and the Czechs. After that (if we get that far) it starts to look pretty tough but the Euros is always like that anyway.

Grealish has gorra start, best player we've got by a country mile, he can actually dribble, and has complete control of the ball.rashford tries but he cant do it.foden is the other one I'd play, he to can dribble, and got good control, but southgate will start sterling!!!😂🤣

We’ve learned that Henderson should not be taking penalties! he already knew that, nothing worse than being a player pulling rank to snatch the penalty off someone who knows how to take one, then nothing better than seeing them miss I felt the same when Richards it off tom eaves and missed kind of ended his town career I thought

Caught about 20 minutes of the second half, the stand out performer was Grealish, he is a cheating & diving b@Stard but he has a touch of quality about him and looks so comfortable on the ball. I know we were missing a number of key players but anyone who genuinely thinks 'it's coming home' will be in for more disappointment this summer. I'm not sure whether it's just me getting older, the new format or the pandemic situation but this is the first euro's I can remember where I haven't felt any sense of excitement, in fact I I had forgotten it kicked off this week

You are right, dont even think we'll get out of group stage tbh, and yes grealish is a quality player, and the best we've got---- so southgate wont play him!!!😂🤣

Ben White coming suggests we need cover for Maguire. Has it ever been worthwhile taking injured players who haven't played for weeks?

Ben White makes sense for me - Looked much better then Mings, Coady and it obviously means Maguire is unlikely to feature in the group state.
Ward Prowse I can see the merits but he was realistically never going to start.

I thought Ward-Prowse would go but to be fair White was pretty impressive and offers cover in both defence and midfield. England have made big mistakes before in taking injured players such as Beckham and Rooney to big tournaments and it looks the same mistake has been made again for Maguire and Henderson, neither of whom are remotely as good as them.

Ward Prowse I can see the merits but he was realistically never going to start. I think that's it, but maybe Mings and Coady didn't deserve it in the first place? Southgate possibly got lucky to be able to have TAA injured to open up a new place. Still think JWP was unlucky to miss out but as long as Henderson and Phillips remain fit it isn't the end of the world for England. Also think given the 5 subs and larger squad this tournament more than ever the squad will be used. Especially in front 3/4. Think Grealish and Saka especially may not find starting roles in many games but will feature off the bench to offer something different.

As one poster said, we'll have a job beating scotland As long as we do though, that's all that counts. That is the one thing we have to do in this tournament.
